Ex-Congressman Flynn Says the Re-
publican Congressional Nominee
Will be a West Sider
“It Is not my intentiou to take an
active part in politics this fall ” re-
marked ex-Iclcgate Dennis T Flynn
tills morning “Of course I shall
vote and help the Interests of the
boys occasionally but further than
that I do not wish to figure in the
game I am here solely to look after
my property interests and to give an
eye to some mining interests in south
west Missouri”
“Will you oppose a Harnes man for
congress?” was asked Mr Flynn
“I shall oppose no one hut mind
you I lihavc a memory and I do not
purpose tc be crushed under my own
conning tower Hill Grimes w ill not
lc a candidate for congress neither
will that rough rider movement suc-
ceed There are too many smooth
riders left iu the tcrrito:y The re-
publican candidate for congress will
come from the west side but lie will
not Ik? Grimes Free homes is dead
for the present and it will not be an
issue in this campaign Indeed there
are no territorial Issues and this cam-
paign must Ik? made on national ls-
sue$ with the possible exception of
statehood I purpose to have this
platform presented at the El lleno
convention
Resolved That we Indorse McKin-
ley's administration
Resolved That we endorse the war
Resolved That wc adjourn
That platform is broad enough for
any republican iu Oklahoma to stand
on”
“Then you would not endorse Gov
Harnes' administration?”
Here Mr Flynn Toughed like the
Vesuvius and remarked- that the
weather was damply damp also ob-
serving that the raise of the Christ o-
bal Colon wasn't in it with some tax
raises lie knew
Questioned in regard to fusion Mr
Flynn remarked that the coalition
was much stronger this year than it
was two years ago when lie had the
temerity to buck it “It doesn’t
require a range finder or a signal
corps balloon to tell me that the ene-
my Is there in large numbers” quaint
ly observed the ex-delegate
Mr Flynn lias gained in tlcsli and
is enjoying good health He will re-
main iu the teriltory until after the
election but of course will have
nothing more to do with politics — be
adaiits that much himself — Guthrie
