Generally speaking Wagoner
county has a good system of well
worked roads but there is one
serious fault and that is the bad
places are not properly looked
after One can drive for five
miles or more over a perfect road
aud then run into a mud hole that
would swamp a butterfly These
are the places which need the at-
tention of our road overseers

At the State Federation of
Women's Clubs over at Tulsa

What has become of the man
who predicted that farmers
would get 4 cents for cotton and
3 cents for hogs if the democrats
were successful in the 1912 cam-
paign? — MarloV Review
Yes and what has become of
the fellow that said the cost of
living would go down with the
coming in of a Democrat admin-
istration? ' Yea verily all politi-

No wonder the state dispensary
was a failure in Wagoner when
we consider the competition it
had to go up against
Guess the railroads of Oklaho-
ma have no just kicks coming on
the two cent fares of Oklahoma
According to their own reports
they collected more money un-
der the two cent fare for August
1913 than they did under the
three cent fare for August 1912
We can’t help but eel that
there was a miscarriage of jus-
tice last week in at least a few of
the many who were convicted
for bootlegging We were' cer-
tain that we had had business
relations with all the boys but
to our surprise there were men
convicted whom we never knew
or even heard of before
Everett Purcell of the Enid
Events is now out beating the
bushes in favor of an Independ-
ent State ticket next year As a
radical standpat organ the
Events contributed its share in
splitting the republican party in
Oklahoma and whether the frag-
ments can now be gathered up
along an independent route is
more than we can tell but we do
know that it would have been a
thousand times better for the
Republican party in Oklahoma
had both the crazy standpatters
like Everett and the fool bool-
moosers used just a few grains
of good common sense about one
