FRIDAY OCTOBER 26 1906
For Delegate to Constitu-
tional Convention
W B HUDSON
Vot6 for Hudson
Vote for Hudson because he is
an able man
Vote for Hudson because he is
an able man whose only interests
are the interests of the whole
district and the making of a con-
stitution fair to all and unjust to
none a constitution which will
stand the test of time
The election of W B Hudson
is assured It is only a matter
of majority Every man who
wants to see the whole district
represented and not a part of it
should go to work and make the
Hudson vote just a little larger
Even the most radical of Har-
vison’s supporters can find no
fault in Hudson They merely
say “Vote for Harvison” Iiui
why? The only answer is' a
nerve-racking silence This dis-
trict must have a representative
who has proven himself qualified
to think and act with the master
minds of the new state who is
given to liberal opinions but
firmly set against the evils with
which the delegate body must
contend Such a man is W B
Hudson There are no excuses
to oiler for his candidacy and no
doubt as to where he stands
gentleman who acted as chair-
man of the convention which
nominated W B Hudson as the
republican candidate for ' dele-
gate to the constitutional conven-
tion announces that it will not
support any particu'ar candidate
Will the gentleman please arise
and explain his position Does
it appear that an Okemah demo-
crat sociahst or what not i3 en-
titled to the support of this re-
publican editor rather than the
man he helped nominate just be-
cause Mr Hudson is not a resi-
dent of Okemah? ' This bolt is
a matter which calls for investi-
gation and an explanation from
the dashing Donohue
An unknown exchange asks:
“Did you ever think about it?
Who pays for the advertising of
merchants and other business
men? Not the advertiser for
the cost is returned to him two
fold in increased profits Not
the purchaser for he buys
cheaper from the advertiser and
has a better assortment am
fresher goods to select from
Who then really pays the ad-
vertising bills? The non-advertiser
of course A just propor
tion of the money he looses by
his lack of initiative and enter-
prise finds its way eventually o
the printer to advance the cau?e
of education and the interests o!
the community Who pays for
the advertising that attracts
people to this town and otlnr
towns? The home merchant not
only looses that trade but in
that loss pays for the other fel-
low’s advertising The “store
keeper” is a relic of the past
the merchant is an active being
of today”
The Family Spoon
While rummaging through the
drawers of a bookcase in her
daughters room in search of
some writing paper Mrs Wim-
berling came upon a bundle of
letters tied with a blue string
and emmitting a faint perfume
She untied the bundle and
glanced through several of the
letters Then she picked them
up and went downstairs and
confronted her daughter
“Eunice” she said- in a high
state of indignation “who is the
idiot that you are corresponding
with I’d like to know Of all
the love sick trash I ever heard
this is absolutely the worst I
shall consider it my duty to re-
port the matter to your father if
this thing goe3 any further Who
wrote these letters?”
1 am not going to lie to you
about them mama” said Miss
Eunice serenely “If you will
uut on your glasses and look a'
!hem again you will find that
they’re a lot of old letters papa
wrote to you when you were a
girl” — Ex

MISUNDERSTOOD
Ut Mary J Allen
Let us not judge another life
Hy what it seems to be
It may have fallen in the strife
For lack of svmyathy:
Some pains are are footholds up the steep
To heights of life unguessod
But other griefs are buried deep
Within the aching breast
Too often ‘neath a merry smile
A wound lies bleeding still
And eyes whose light our hearts beguile
With bitter tears may fill
Judge kindly we cannot know
What was orlnight have been:
The happiness one must forego
The joys one might not win
Too often in this world of ours
Hearts ache through life alone
For human hearts are like the flowers—
They open to the sun:
One word of tenderness can thrill
A heart in sore distress
And loving ministery can fill
The world with happiness
