STATE HEALTH NOTES
(By Dr A R Lewis)
FEW PEOPLE ESCAPE MEASLES
To avoid catching the measles
sounds easy but unfortunately this
is not as simple a matter as it
would fir-t apKar The truth is thut
90 per cent nt least of all the peo-
ple horn into the world take the
measles germ into their bodies
without regard to robustno-s or to
weakness
Thera are only two exceptions
Xursing babies usually turn fie es-
pecially if they are less than six
months’ old And once in a while
people are horn with a peculiar con-
dition railed “immunity from the
measles” so that they will nut tak'
the disease Also a person rare'v
if ever has the measles twice the
first time it is the genuine disease
and the next time it is the German
measles
While keeping yourself in “good
health” does not exempt you from the
disease it certainly lessens the dan-
ger that attends every ease At any
rate the body that is physicially fit
is not so likely to suffer from hazard-
ous after-effects
5et we still hear some mothers nay
that it is necessary for her child to
have the measles and so the sooner
he as it and is over it the better
This is entirely wrong The younger
the children are when they have mea-
sles the more likely they are to die
and the more likely they are to suf-
fer severe effects from it even if
they don’t die
The safest age to have mensles is
at 15 years old The most fatal age
is from two to five 20 per cent of
those who have measles when under
thive' years die So even if yon
think it is hopeless to nave your
children from measles altogether try
to save them as long as possible
from having it
When the child or any patient
looks and acta as if he had an ex-
ceedingly bad cold in the head and
some in the lungs and especially if
there is a case of measles in the
neighborhood — the safest plan ia to
eall the doctor at once

The Whole: Secret of
A Better Tire
Simpfy a Matter of the Maker9 o Policies
This you will realize— once you
try a Brunswick— that a super-tire
is possible only when the name
certifies that the maker is follow-
ing the highest standards
For tire making is chiefly a mat-
ter of standards and policies— cost
plus care Any maker can build a
good tire if he cares to pay per
lection’s price
All men know Brunswick stand
ards for Brunswick products have
been famous for 74 years
Formulas fabrics and standards
vary vastly in cost - Reinforce-
ments plies and thickness are a
matter of expense And these vari-
ations affect endurance It rests
with the maker how far he wishes
to go— how much he can afford
to give
For there are no secrets nor pat-
ents to hold one back
To ascertain what each maker
Offers one must analyze and test
some 200 tires— as our laboratories
have done '
Then it is a matter of combining
the best features and building ac-
cording to the highest standards
Once you try a Brunswick you
will understand how we have built
model tires regardless of factory
expense '
Yet Brunswick Tires cost you the
same as other like-type tires Our
saving is on selling cost through
our nation-wide organization
We realize that you expect more
from Brunswicks and we assure
you that you ’get it ONE Bruns-
wick will tell you the story
And then you’ll want ALL
Brunswicks No other tire you’ll
agree gives so much for your
money
