NEW RIGGING

The contract for building the
new derrick for the Clarion-
Brookville Oil Co has been let
to Grim & Maxwell of Bartles-
ville and they are expected here
tomorrow The timbers are now
on the ground and ready for
erection
Manager J H Ellard informs
us that the new well will be put
down on the Henry Marcum
place the same sight as the one
they were drilling last fall when
their derrick burned He states
that they are in for ”ile” and
expect to get it too

Bob Jameson who is employed
on the buildings being erected on
the west side of north Main street
fell from a scaffold this afternoon
and sustained serious and painful
injuries He was wheeling stone
up a runway when the barrow
tripped him causing him to fall
from the top of the wall to the
basement barely missing the
sleepers He has a bad scalp
wound and is considerably bruis-
ed and shaken up

elder in the Indian Mission con-

devote all his time to his duties

REVERSED
Last Saturday Judge Doyle of
the Criminal Court of Appeals
handed down an opinion in the
case of the State vs E T Brown
appealed from the county court
reversing the finding of the low-
er court
This was the case where the
defendant was charged with a
violation of the prohibition law
by keeping a club room called the
Order of Owls for the sale and
distribution of intoxicating li-
quors Brown’s attorneys filed
a demurrer to the information
which was sustained by Judge
Wells and the case was dismissed
J R Wood took an appea with
the result as stated above Brown
will now be compelled to return
to this state and undergo a new
trial

j the mining bill came in Saturday
j to spend Sunday with their fam-
ilies They feel much encouraged at
the reception given them by the
voters they met and predict a
victory for the miners They
have attended all meetings where
the subject was to be spoken of
and have met all speakers who
opposed the repeal and refuted
all their corporation inspired ar-
guments Among those they
met was Senator Shaw of Mari-
etta who made a speech evident-
ly prepared by the coal trust but
when the coal diggers who knew
what they were talking about
answered him he did not reply

R L Dalton salesman with
the Jackson-Warner Co suffer-
ed a severe dislocation ot his
right knee this morning - He
was fitting up a buggy in the re-
pairatory in the rear of the store
and from some cause it toppled
over on him inflicting this and
other injnries He was taken
home and while suffering much
i pain it is hoped that he will be
on deck in a few days as good as
new
REDMEN VISIT GOWAN
The Redmen degree team of
Pushmataha Tribe No 8 visited
Gowan Saturday afternoon and
! on Saturday night they officiated
in conferring the initiation 100
! new members of the order into
the local tribe
They report that they had
highly enjoyable visit and the
Gowan Redmen extended the
greatest hospitality and they
were wined and dined in the
true Redmanship manner

tion No 2 adopted by the Mayor
and City' Council of Coalgate
Oklahoma on July 16 1913
Notice is hereby given in pur-
suance of a resolution passed by
the Mayor and City Council of
the City of Coalgate Oklahoma
July 16 1913 known as resolu-
tion number 2 sealed proposals
or bids by contractors will be re
ceived and may be filed with the
city clerk at Ms office in the
city hall in the city of Coalgate
up to 8 o'clock p m on the 90th
day July 1913 for furnishing the
materials and performing the
work necessary in the paving
curbing and otherwise improving
the following street according to
the plans and specifications now
on file in the office of the city
clerk: Byrd Street from the
north line of Levy street to the
north line of Queen avenue
where Byrd street intesects with
Queen avenue and Byrd street
from the south line of Hanover
avenue to the south line of Wal
nut avenue including all the in-
tersecting streets and alleys
city of Coalgate Oklahoma by
preparing the roadway by doing
the necessary grading building
the necessary manholes and catch
basins laying the necessary
drainage tile curbing guttering
and paving the same with a
Westrumite asphalt pavement
all as provided in said plans and
specifications prepared by the
Engineer and adopted by the
Mayor and City Council
Each proposal or bid must be
accompanied by a certified check
for $200000 such check being
certified by a bank in Coalgate
Oklahoma payable to said city
to be forfeited to the city in case
the successful bidder fails to en-
ter into a contract and give the
required bond in the sum of 20
per cent of the contract price for
the faithful performance of said
work and the holding of the city
harmless from anv and all dam-
ages that might occur All pro-
posals shall be submitted on
blanks prepared by the Engineer
from whom the same may be ob-
tained and shall be sealed and
endorsed "Proposals for Paving
District D”
The successful bidder in said
district will be required to exe-
cute to the City of Coalgate a
construction bond for said dis-
trict in the sum of 20 per cent
of the contract price conditioned
for the full and faithful perform-
ance of the contract as required
by law and will be required to
execute to said city for such dis-
trict a five (5) year maintenance
bond in the sum of $10000Q0
The Westrumite Company of
Whiting Indiana is the owner
of all patents and processes cov-
ering the laying of the pavement
known as Westrumite pavement
and the said Westrumite Com-

per square yard for the wearing
service of said pavement and
said rights and services will be
furnished by said Westrumite
Company to any and all bidders
at the same stipulated price to-
wit: $155 per square yard for
the wearing surface of said pave-
ment
