Ykite Way For Davi
Urged By R G Kay
1 41 ii
' Let’s put a white way on Main
street in Davis Davis has the
poorest street lighting system of
any town in the state Even
Dougherty has a much better
lighting system than we have It
would of course be better to vote
a bond issue and install lights all
over town where needed but
people are sick of bond issues and
personally do not believe' that it
would carry Again it would be
almost impossible for the city to
pay a very large monthly light
bill as the money is not available
for this purpose
A white way has been discussed
by the Chamber of Commerce and
also the Kiwanis club but the
only way that Davis will ever
hav? a white way is for every
business men to get behind the
movement push it and each man
pay his proportional part of the
cost If each business house
would pay '$2500 each or $2500
for each 25 ft lot on Main street
this would give us six lights to the
block This would not have to
be paid all in a lump sum I be-
lieve that we can buy this equip-
ment and get at least six months
to pay the bill which would be
very light on every one
The K & W Motor company will
start this list with $15000 dona-
tion 1 believe that everybody in
Davis should have enough civic
pride to want a white1 way- and
all that can would make a dona-
tion The Chamber of Commerce
Kiwanis Club the Masonic
Lodge the K of Ps Odd Fellows
and the Women’s Clubs should
and I believe will make a donation
for this purpose If we have a
white Way we should by all means
have it installed before the tourist
business starts This will help
the looks of Davis 100 per cent
and will be one of the best boosts
that we could have Let’s every-
body talk white way If we wait
1 until the city is able to put it in
we may never have one Let’s
get started and get the job done

County Turkey Pool
Yas Bij Success
By polling for the turkey mar-
ket it is estimated thaf farmers
of Murray county benefited to thq
amount of $900
A turkey pool and sale was held
at Sulphur last Friday and 2000
birds were sold to the Liebman
Produce Co of Oklahoma City
high bidder against six competi-
tors The price paid for toms was
20 c andor hens 18c which
was against the quoted price Fri-
day of 17c and 14c The birds
were delivered at Davis and Sul-
phur Monday
Turkey raisers made $900 more
than the price they would have
received if they had not pooled
' Another illustration of where
co-operation pays The success
of the plan probably means that
it will be repeated at future timesr
Kiwanis Club
V I -
”1 have not heard a man use a
profane word and have seen only
one man under the influence of
liquor since I have been in Davis
remarked Evangelist Singley in
making a talk at the Kiwanis
luncheon yesterday “You have a
splendid little city here and your
people are a fine type of citizen-
ship” he said He made the Ki-
wanians a good talk
Rev Tucker father of the Davis
Methodist pastor also made a
nice talk cleverly illustrated with
stories
1 Mr Cooper gospel singer
favored the club with two favorite
pld-time songs
" 'Action was taken by the club
to sponsor a Christmas fund for
the needy also to banquet1 the
football boys and pep girls
