COTTON FARMERS CHANCE
TO MAKE MONEY
V “
Cotton is low in price' Grain
is Jiigh andgoing higher Every
cotton grower must choose right
now between growing his own
feed grain and forage or asking
for credit in order to buy high
priced com
During the” next thirty days
fall wheat and fall rye can be
sown in all of the cotton growing
districts in Oklahoma With or-
dinary conditions either crop will
furnish pasture for work animals
through Winter and early spring
It will also almost carry hogs and
cattle Then in the spring if the
crops are in good condition they
may be left for grain and will
thus furnish the first cash crop
which the cotton growers can pos-
sibly get in 1915
The cotton growers should
plant at least one acre of pasture
right now for evefy grown anim-
al he owns Two acres for each
animal are better than one Soft
wheat furnishes the earliest and
best pasture in the cotton region
Sow one bushel of seed to the
acre If ybu have no wheat drill
scatter the seed broadcast in the
cotton rpws and cultivate it even-
ly at the same depth you would
plant com or cotton Don’t wait
until it rains to sow this wheat
Stop picking cotton right now
long enough to do it
Sow fall rye or winter 'oats the
same as wheat
One dollar’s credit spent for
feed right now will stop the need
for ten dollars worth of credit
this winter

The Okemah Ledger has made
no attempt at denial of the fact
that on two ballot jobs they flim-
flammed the county out of $21146
They offered no explanation and
can offer none They did how-
ever by way of diverting the at-
tention of the public from the
steal intimate that the News was
in control of the republican cam-
paign manager or some such piffle
for-which the Ledger is noted
It also picks out a few job prices
on county work and Attempts to
show that the News has over-
charged on those jobs In fair-
ness to the people of the county
an item as large as the printing
account should be given thorough
publicity and the News will in a
later issue give a complete record
of the Ledger’s transactions with
the county since statehood If the
publication of this list with other
enlightening facts in connection
does not put a bug in somebody’s
ear bugs will be mighty scarce
