Notwithstanding the discourag-

caused by the European war the
boys and girls of Okfuskee coun-
ty showed by their interest in
' their contest that the results were
not worrying them in the least as
1 their interest were on this side
of the globe and while they were
killing and plundering in the old
country they had ‘ their interest
centered in Oklahoma - in Okfus-
kee county and were planning to
make of it a greater agricultural
: county and state' Jby educating
themselves to produce better
farmers and better farm women
to take care of what is produced
by them v
The Boys’ and Girls’ Club con-
test show exhibited in Okemah
last Friday and Saturday excelled
all other displays ptit on by them
in this section and the citizens of
Okemah and Okfuskee -county
turned out enmasse to visit and
see what the clubs of the different
localities of the county had placed
on exhibit
The boys and girls worked hard
all spring and summer to obtain
the products exhibited by them
and some of the finest sewing
fruit vegetables live stock etc
were on display that it has been
the pleasure of the people of Ok-
fuskee county to gaze upon -
The girls are to be compliment-
ed on the way they handled their
display and for ' the fine things
shown by them It makes the
girls of the city envious of her
county friend The boys are to
be congratulated for their inter-
est takenin their contest and in
pome instances sentiment ''ran
high as they had a fine display
The News -hopes to see the in-

POULTRY SHOW WAS A SUCCESS
MANY PRIZE BIRDS ON EXHIBITION
Large Crowds Visited Show During the two Days and
Blue Ribbons were Much in Evidence-Plans
Being Laid for Larger Show Next Year
The Okfuskee County Poultry
and Pet Animal Association open-
ed their doors to the public last
Friday and Saturday Many were
the surprises that were in store
for the people as the exhibits
went far beyond the expectations
of the managers considering that
there was not an exhibit shown
outside the vicinity of Okemah 1
Large crowds visited the1 show
during the two days and express-
ed their surprise at finding so
many thoroughbred fowls raised
in and ground Okemah
Prof A F Rolf of the A & M
College at Stillwater was here
and acted in the capacity of judge
Thirty-six blue ribbons were
awarded by him Several coops
and birds were disqualified on
such technicalities as failing to
wash the feet of the fowl or fail-
ure to trim off certain portions' of
the feathers or combs Prof Rolf
put in the day explaning to the
raisers of chickens the different
varities they ought to raise and
the way to handle and care for
them and in general gave all the
information that' it was in his
power to give them'
The poultry raisers are planning
something bigger and vbetter for
the next year’s show ancl hopeto
be able at that time to award
prizes 'to the winners There
were no prizes awarded at this
exhibition and this accounts to
some extent for there being no
birds from the near by towns be-
ing placed on exhibition
