Order of County Commissioners Dividing Ellis County Ok-
lahoma Into Stock Districts
A petition having been filed in the office of the County Clerk of
Ellis County Oklahoma on the 6th day of April A D 1914 which pe-
tition was in writing and signed by more than twenty-five (25) freehold-
ers and legal voters and residents of said County and State demanding
and requesting the Board of CountycCommissioners to divide the County
into stock districts now to-wit:
On this the 6th day of April A D 19l4 the said petition for the
dividing of this county into Stock Districts was duly presented to us in
regular and open session and as commanded and 'requited in said peti-
tion and as commanded and anthorizedby law We thft Board of County
Commissioners have hereby divide Ellis County into Stock Districts
embracing not less than stAenty-two (72) square miles and not more
than one hundred forty four (144) and in as near compact form as the
grazing and agricultural interest will permit and the boundary lines
thereof conform to section lines and County lines except where imprac-
table and we have carefully and knowingly considered the condition and
kind of lands embraced in said district and the character of the soil
its streams waters prairie’ and sandy lands up lands and so forth and
we have made the districts conform to the purpose for which they are
better adapted and the sandy and non agricultural lands which are un-
fit and useless for agricultural purposes and fit only for grazing pur-
poses we have placed into a seperate district and the portions of the
county which are better adapted fot farming purposes We have divid-
ed this couuty into ten (lo) stoclpdistricts' and have made them in as
near a compact form as the conditions of the soil and streams will per-
mit and have made all of said districts conform to law as near as the
conditions will allow after considering all the laws and the facts and
said Districts are as follows to-wit:
