The resignation of Don
Morley, special agent
charge of the FBI, remained
clouded in secrecy Wednes-
day as the FBI announced
he will be replaced by John
Burns, who holds a similar
position in Butte, Mont.
In Washington, Thomas
Bishop, assistant FBI direc-
tor, confirmed that Morley
has resigned effective Janu-
ary 23 but said, “We have no
comment in addition to
that.”
While it has been rumored
that Morley resigned under
fire and in the wake of an in-
ter-bureau inspection, Bish-
op said, "we do not adver-
tise our office inspections.”
In Oklahoma City, Clyde
Aderhold, assistant special
agent in charge, also con-
firmed that Morley has re-
signed, but referred all other
questions to the Washington
headquarters.
One source said Morley
had gone to Iowa and anoth-
er said he had gone to Mary-
land. He could not be
reached for comment.
Burns, 43, Is a native of
Kearny, N. J., a World War
II veteran, a graduate of
Cornell University and has
been with the FBI since 1950.
He is married and has three
children.
He worked in the Washing-
ton-Baltimore headquarters
office until 1964 when he was
assigned to Albuquerque, N.
M., as assistant SAC. He has
been SAC In Butte since De-
cember, 1967.
Bishop said he did not
know when Bums would as-
sume the Oklahoma City
post, but that Bums is be-
ll e v e d presently making
travel plans.

sliced their car in two pieces
at a crossing two miles west
of Sulphur.

They were sons of Mr. and
Mrs. Mark Griffin, Sapulpa.
Trooper David Trieb said
the youths’ car apparently
pulled onto the
tracks without
or hearing the
freight.
He said the
wreckage of the car showed
it was split apart by the im-
pact and the victims appar-
ently died instantly.
No Chance to Stop
The trooper said the crash
occurred about 8:30 a m. not
far from the Griffin home,
under rainy and cloudy
weather conditions.
The Frisco train’s engi-
neer, J. C. Jones, Oklahoma
City, estimated the freight
was traveling about 50 miles
per hour. He said there was
no chance to stop In time to
avoid the collision.
Julian and Capps ’

vert.
Car Flips Over
Julian was pronounced
dead on arrival at Ada’s Val-

Capps died at the
Wednesday morning
sive head injuries.
Highway patrol
Tom LaValley said
car traveled 360 feel side-
