Indiana Judge Makes the Objection-
able Amusement Costly.
A little horse play will cost William
E. Reynolds, best known as "BUlle."
, J300 and court costs and attorneys
fees. The Appellate court today af-
! tirms the judgment carrying this
amount In the suit against him, orig-
inally brought by John W. Pierson, a
stockyards man, and In which 1 ier-
1 son's "representatives were substituted
after his death.
j Pierson was a Union stockyards
man, and happened In the Interstate
' yards one day, where he met his old
friend, William O. Trotter. Trotter
1 called out, "Hello, Uncle John," and
| took Pierson by the right arm, which
he continued to hold as he talked to
him, says the Indianapolis News.
I Reynolds was yard manager, and
' came rushing by through the alley
In which the two men talked, grasp-
ing Trotter as he passed. The im-
petus behind his 230 pounds weight
turned Trotter about. Trotter's grasp
on Pierson's arm threw that old man
almost to the ground, and in recov-
ering himself he sprained his wrist.
Pierson recovered $300 In Judge
T.eatners room, and the case was ay-
pealed. The Appellate court says:
"The farts shown are sufficient to con-
demn the habit of horse play between
grown men." Reynolds said he had
not seen Pierson as he passed, did not
know that I'icrson had fallen until
later, and had not intended to do hira
any harm. Such a defense the court
j characterizes as an "I-did-not-mean-
to" defense.

Whitburn, Sunderland, Ohio, says: |
"My wife suffered severely from rheu-
matism, and neuralgia. She could not
get one moment's rest and was nearly
crazed with pain. Obtained instant re-
lief and a permanent cure by using
the contents of one bottle of St. .la-

the world that will do this. The in-
stantaneous effect which St. Jacobs Oil
produces is a part of its half a century
record." St. Jacobs Oil is sold in 25

Her Future Provided For.
The little daughter of Beerbohm
Tree, the famous English actor, is the
subject of a pleasing story. Once
when some visitors were talking of
theatrical matters, a lady took the
child on her knee and said: "And
you, my dear, I suppose you intend to
be a great actress when you grow
up?" "Oh, no, not at all," was th^
self-possessed response, "Mamma in-
tends me to marry."

The Privilege of Sanctuary.
Beverly minster, 18# miles north ot
J.omlon, is the shrine of St. John of
Ueverly, who died in the year 721. In
1 ;>o8 Athelstan, king of England, gave
l (several privileges to the monastry,
one being the privilege of sanctuary, i
! This was not merely for nianslaying;
1 it was open to all wrong-doers except
I those who had been guilty of treason,
j For ordinary offenses, su«li as horse
! stealing, cattle stealing, being back-
| ward in accounts or belnR in receipt
of suspected goods, a man came into
sanctuary about a mile from the mon-

' four crosses on tlie mam roans leading

! area. In cases of manslaughter ami
murder it was not sufficient to be
within one of these cros.ses. Before
