LEGISLATORS FAVOR LOCAT
INC. ASYLUM ON THE
RESERVATION
An Alva special says: The visit of
the members of both houses of the
Oklahoma legislature to Fort Supply
practically assures the passage of a
hill (or the establishment and mainti-
nance of an asylum for the insane of
Oklahoma on the military reservation,
an ideal location for the institution. \
majority 01 the irtcinbtrs favor the
proposition and will, it is believed,
vote for it. The question of cost <>1
transportation of patients, fuel and
supplies WHS a very sir.Hii; argument
against the Fort Supply location, but
that will hardh he allowed to weigh
against tin palpable advantages of
climate, altitude, environment, equip-
ment and water supply. There are
1,760 acres of fertile second bottom
and Beaver creek, just west of ;h -ir
i xiSO test—all with baths and
evw-r e.' nil..tions. In addition are
twenu-five vi* room cottages and hit/
.(tiler houses, 111 addition to stables
and storehouses. The buildings, aside
from the brick guardhouse, arc frame.
The legislators and newspaper men
, were tendered a reception and ball and
1 haii.piet by the Woodward Commer-
cial club.
The visitor- then went ti. Opal, on j
the Santn Fe, and drove the nine miles
front there to the reservation, where,
after a thorough inspection, they were
baiupivtted by Custodian GarnHy. Tliev
were tiiterward met at the depot at
Alva by the mayor, Commercial club,
faculty of the Northwest normal and
company I of the natioanl guard. A
reception was tendered them at the
normal.
! The legislature and guests traveled
in a special train furnished by the
