The business men pit Rock Island

barrassing (questions of Mayor 11«■''
sley, Chief Robare and Gity Clerk Siil
Clttte regarding the discrimination bj
the administration against Rock Island
avenue in the matter of circus parades.
During the past summer three circus
parades were systematically kipt off
of Rock Island avenue. Mayor Hen-
sley says the chief i-- responsible; the
chief says the city clerk is to blame,
and the city clerk says the mayor and
the chief of police are "in on the deal.
Whoever is responsible will have to

GAME WARDEN GOULD GATH-
ERS IN A BUNCH.
Game Warden Gould was up to
Okeene yesterday to see that the ship-

Rupert and Joseph Duncan, the two
who were instrumental in the shipping
of the game, were fined $400 and co-t-.
The costs amounted to about $35• The
fine was small in proportion to the
value of the meat and the damage d. me

ITHEV ARE AFTER "SMOOTH
FINGERED" GENTLHMEN
The detectives of the Rock Island
system arrived in El Reno in force
last night to do a little cleaning work.
For several weeks past complaints
have been entered of pickpockets on
Chickasha, El Reno and Oklahoma
City trains. Many requests have been
made to the local police to put forth an
effort to break up the headquarters of
the gang in this city But so far the
police have ntadc 110 headway, so the
detectives have been put on the trains
to catch the light fingered gentlemen.
The first step of the detectives was to
round up the gambling houses. Sev-
eral suspicious characters were "spot-
ted". among them a young man who
is considered to be "one of the boys
about town.
In conversation with an American
reporter this morning the chief of the
detectives said:
"For several weeks this gang has
been at work iu Oklahoma, principal-
ly at Guthrie. Oklahoma City and T.l
Reno. They are a smooth lot. This
.city seems to be their headquarters,
an dthey run back and forth on the
trains and work anions the passen-
ger-. Oklahoma Cit\ and hi Reno
have some smooth crooks just now,
and we are here to see if the gang
cannot be broken up.
that your city has a gfj
and from what I -aw last night I am
coming to the same opinion."
