The party had been attending the dance at Convention
Hall and after the festivities had closed had entered their
car and started for their homes at Wilson. One moment they
were singing and shouting with laughter as they interchanged
innocent jests ami told harmless stories or commented upon
the incidents of the evening. And then bearing down upon
them like some monster car of Juggernaut came the string
of freight cars which the engine was backing down the service
