returned here. She left immeditely
for Monroe La. in response to a nies-
sagt announcing the serious illness of
her mother.

Calvin Herbert will preach and sing
at the First Christian church tomor-
row night. The subject of his dis-
course will be "The Hecord We Are
Making."
The show at the Ardmore Athletic
ciub on Labor day promises to be a
good attraction. Manager Allison has
succeeded in securing four very good
matches.
One of the tractors recently pur-
chased by the Hoard of County (Mm-
missioners was taken to the rock
quarry west of the city this morning
and put Into commission.
Miss Anne Matthews of this city
who Is teaching In Oklahoma City
has been a guest at the Patton home
Sulphur for several days. She was
the guest of Miss Kdith Morgan.
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Martin have
returned from Clinton Mo. They left
hert In their car and in ended to visit
Kansas City and with relatives in
Clinton and from there they planned

Col. Graves Leeper returned here
yesterday from Sulphur where he has
been spending several days. He re
ports that Sulphur has been crowded
this year with summer guests and
that a delightful time was enjoyed by
all of them.
Judge Tom Champion has contract-
ed for repairs on his house necessi-
tated by the recent fire The judge
says that his most serious loss was
not covered by Insurance but he is
thankful that his home was spared
from the flames.
The county central committee will
meet probably some day this week
to plan for the coming campaign.
Chairman Apple has not fixed a defi-
nite date yet but will do so Immedi
ately and issue the call for the com
mitteemen to gather here.
Jim Smith caught a six and one-half
pound bass from the city lake yester-
day afternoon but he was aided and
abetted by Monte Dillingham who
had to make a deep dive for the fish
after the line became entangled near
the bottom of the lake.
The Knights of Pythias Saxophone
Sextette went to Fort Worth today
to take part in a big booster smoker
which Is being staged by the lodge
there. Several local members will ac-
company the musicians on this trip.
Calvin Luther Herbert preached and
sang at the Confederate Home Sunday
evening. The veterans appreciated
the interest taken in them by the
young man and his words were re
ceived with close attention.
Prof. Reynolds returned this morn-
ing to Glenn where he has one more
week of summer school. He and his
wife will spend the fall months here
with Mrs. Herbert and will return to
Glenn when the winter term opens.
Dr. H. A. Morgan is here from Ant-
lers for treatment at the ILirdy l.os-
pital Dr. Morgan underwent tn op-
eration sometime ago for appendicitis
and left for Antlers but '.be round
necessitated his return for a few
days' treatment
Fount Duston and wife and two
daughters Vivian and Doris have re
turned from Regan on the Penning-
ton where they visited the family of
W. F. Freeman. While there they
had a most delightful time and caught
lots of fish out of the classic Penning
ton.

IMPROVE CHURCH PROPERTY
Christian Church Will Install Modern
Heating Plant.
The board of managers of the First
Christian church held a meeting yes-
terday afternoon at which it was de-
termined to proceed at once to deco-
rate the auditorium to complete the
basement and to install a modern heat-
ing plant. Another meeting will be
held tonight and it is probable that
contracts will be awarded either to-
night or tomorrow for the work. The
First Christian church structure is
already a credit to Its city and will
be greatly Improved when the work
contemplated shall have been completed.

Large crowds saw the first two
episodes of "Liberty" which were
shown at the Theatorium Saturday!

who saw it was that it is the best
