Corporation Commission Will Investi
gate Prices of Oil in Oklahoma.
Oklahoma City Okla. June 3.
Preparatory to the hearing in the oil
cases before the corporation commis
sion the commission Monday sent
copies of the transcript of the recent.
hearing to all the pipe line attor-
neys involved in the investigation.
The hearing is set for June 10. It will
go into the question of price of Ok
lahoma cr.ude oil with reference to
its comparative value as measured
by the Pennsylvania crudes. The
hearing is likely to be extended and
the results are expected to be wide
spread. The theory of the corpora
tion commission and the attorney
general is that the commission has
the power to regulate prices of crude
oils. This step is in advance of any-
thing ever attempted in this or any
other states and it is attracting ser-
ious attention in oil centers and generally.
The hearing will inquire into all
the ramifications of the petroleum
business and into the supplies of!
crude and refined products with a
vit w to discovering the justice of re-
cent cuts in price by the pipe lino
companies.
The visit of Commissioner Hen-i
shaw and Attorney General West to !
Washington at the time of the trip j
by a committee of independent pro-
ducers serins to have inspired t hern
a ith the belief that the government
will be able to afford much relief for
the Oklahoma producer. Mr. llen-
shaw at least is inclined to discount
any promise that may be seen in
pending congressional legislation or
in the investigation looking toward
n government pipe lino. He will seek
to proceed undi r the constitution
and laws of Oklahoma believing that
the state has it within its power bet-
ter and more speedily to afford relief
than is to be expected from Washing-
ton. Control of prices of oil by the com-
mission w ill be stubbornly resisted by
the pipe line companies.
