The motorist, wilh the colorful history of the Creek nation in
fnind, can enjoy a drive over ihc oak clad hilla of this county, with
fluhr a* much gusto, as though he were driving the wilder wastes
of the far west
Our enjoyment of the mountain* is derived largely from the
written romance* of mountain regions The romance of ihe hills is

Mfrrraunding Sapirlpa. It matter* not in which direction you start,
th9 *eenery will be worth seeing
It may lack the grandeur qI the canyon country, or the sweep-
ing beauty of the sea shore, hut to the lover ol landscape beauty,
it will have a rextftil appeal, surpassing even the splendors of the
more magnificently proportioned places.
AN IMPORTANT ITEM
While the eyes of the world turned to Oklahoma, with the
military »hut down of its oil fields. Lieut. Col.-Field Marshal Cic-
ero Murray, was a very busy man He had many important things
to do. marshaling hi* army, and directing the gigantic task of shut-
ting in the oil well* of the state.
While the call to action sounded, Cicero paused for one of
the important deteils of the campaign, having hi* picture taken
The picture, it is said, will rival the flag drapery scene of Governor
Rill, at the toll bridge battle front. There is a point that the field
marshal* rtf the world war omitted. They sometimes forgot to hsve
their pictures taken before they took the field. Maybe that is why
Von Hinderbuig lost the war. He dicin't have his picture taken in
the right pose.

LET US HOPE
That old c-ernert mixer will grind out inusi'- to the ears of
thousands of tr*valers, as well ns to many Snpulpnns, when it
moves up on North Mission stiert Ihe city commissioner* are tak
ing steps now. which they hope will insure pavement of the short
•tretch of roadw«y south of the cemetery gate Let u* hope that
they are not disappointed, and that the property owners of that
vicinity will not place any stumbling block in their way this time
The tinpaved Mission street stretch is one of the things of
which Sapulpa should he ashamed I hose of us who have lived
here for year*, know the history of that bit of road, but the trav-
eler who visits Sapulpa for a day does not know it. and he score*
the whole town loundly for hsving such a street. Few things are
more important to a city, than making a good impression, and
nothing is more rondurive lo a poor impression than ill-kept streets.
