Jesus - Ever Living to Intercede
Romans 8:33-34 "... Who
is he who condemns? It is
Christ who died, and further-
more is also risen, who is
even at the right hand of God,
who also makes intercession
for us.” NKJV
My internal clock floods
my mind with memories of
my parents, this time of year.
My mother died October 16,
1986. I find slipping into my
counseling office, stories and
examples from my relationship
with my parents and from our
lives together.
The IMF ministry is also an
atmosphere that 1 see sprinkled
with examples from our rela-
tionship, and of my parents'
sacrifices of love for me or my
siblings. The sacrifices they
made were amidst the most
humble and common lives that
were abjectly, poverty stricken.
My dad made sure I had a
bag of quarters to take on a
band trip to the fair, that he
somehow had managed to save
over the months, and my moth-
er's efforts to be sure she some-
how made, borrowed, or put on
credit, a wrap-around skirt for
me when 1 was in the 4th grade,
so 1 would fit in with the other
girls.
My mom sewed most of my
sister’s dresses in high school,
because we had no money for
clothes. Imagine my sister’s
amazement (as well as her

admiring nuisance of a kid-sis-
ter, me, who was looking on),
when my (lad brought in for her
senior prom, the most lovely
yellow chiffon short formal,
with white pearls around the
neckline, spaghetti straps, soft
ruffles from the waist to the
hem, and shoes with clear
pointed heals and cross straps
trimmed with rhinestones - fit
for Cinderella. It all spoke to
me of one of the many great
sacrifices of love they made on
our behalf in our poverty. Life
was common, but their love
even with wounded hearts, was
uncommonly sacrificial.
Life is mostly lived out of
the limelight in common wrap-
pings - punctuated with
moments on the mountain tops.
Most of life is lived in the val-
ley of the doldrums, as classic

Chambers describes it. “The
height of the mountain top is
measured by the drab drudgery
of the valley; but it is in the val-
ley that we have to live for the
glory of God. We see His glory
on the mount, but we never live
for His glory there.”
Jesus lived in the valley of
the doldrums; He also lived a
life of sacrificial love like my
parents, and beyond. He now
lives at the right hand of the
Father in intercession on our
behalf.
Jesus not only died to pay
the penalty for our sins, He was
resurrected from the grave,
proving His justification in
righteousness. We receive our
justification before God as a
result - the acquittal of the
charges of sins against us. Jesus
was glorified and ascended;
now He ever lives making
intersession for us with God.
We read in Romans 8:34-35
“...It is Christ...who is even at
the right hand of God, who also
makes intercession for us.”
Intercession, “is conferring
with, by extension, to entreat
with favor,” according to the
Interlinear Bible. Jesus came as
our high priest (Hebrews 9:11)
offering Himself as a sacrifice
for our sins, and He is now our
high priest. My parents sacri-
ficed in love while they were
here, so now does “Jesus - Ever
Living to Intercede”.

Working Together
“Come unto Me, all ye that
labour and art heavy laden,
and l will give you nest. Take
My yoke upon you, and learn of
Me; forlorn meek and lowly in
heart: and ye shall find rest
unto your souls. For My yoke is
easy, and My burden is light."
Matthew 11:28-31
The greatest invitation ever
liven: the Son of the most high
God, having left the glory and
comfort of His heavenly home
and His Father, graciously
extends to all who have borne
the burden of sin and the earth-
y troubles, trials and sorrows it
rings, an invitation to come to
Him for forgiveness, deliver-
ance and rest.
Down through the centuries,
men, women, boys and girls of
every race, color and tongue
have come to know the love,
>eace and unspeakable joy that
esus gives when His invitation
is gladly accepted. I have been
around a lot of different church
folk in my time and I can tell
you that within a matter of
minutes, I know when I am
talking to someone who has
taken Jesus up on His invita-
tion.
What amazing grace that the
King of glory should so freely
give His life’s blood to pay for
my sins; a sinner man who
walked in the lust and ways of
the world. But in patience and
great mercy He came and
sought me out; in great grace
He washed me and made me
white as snow; in great power
He gave me everlasting life; in
great love He made me His
own: but going beyond the
amazing grace of our salvation
lies something b it is even

more amazing.
Jesus has called us to be fel-
low-workers with Him. He
made it clear to His apostles He
would build a church which the
gates of Hell would not prevail
against. Jesus Christ is the
Head and Chief Cornerstone of
that building; the apostles
being the foundation or the
beginning. The Holy Ghost
teaches us in the wisdom of
God that this is not a denomi-
nation or man-made earthly
organization.
The true temple of God is
not ornate buildings and has no
earthly head.
The true church of God is
that body of born-again, blood-
washed, living by faith believ-
ers in Jesus Christ, of whom
He is the Head. In the true
church of God,
“...There is one body, and
one Spirit, even as ye are
called in one hope of your call-
ing; one Lord, one faith, one
baptism, one God and Father
of all, who is above all, and
through all, and in you all."
Ephesians 4:4-6
And Christ has called us to
labor alongside Him in the
building up of His church.
Some are called to plant and
water with Him, that is to offer
His gracious invitation of for-
giveness of sins and eternal life
to any and all who will listen.
And then the Holy Father gives
the increase.
Some are called to teach, to
disciple new believers. When
someone comes to Christ, the
Lord wants to give them a
teacher who will guide them in;
growing in grace and knowl-;
edge of the Lord. I personally
believe this is a work God has
given me to do.
And there are other works
of the Lord that bless and build
up the body of Christ. Those
who are able to lead, those who
are able to physically and
financially help, those who can
encourage and show mercy,
those who can give a word to
strengthen and those who can
come along side and stand with
their brother or sister in time of
need. "Therefore, my beloved
brethren, be ye steadfast,
unmoveable, always abound-
ing in the work of the Lord,
forasmuch as you know that
your labor is not in vain in the
Lord." I Corinthians 15:58
When a Christian’s heart
belongs to the Lord, their days
will be spent working together
with Him.

Comfort in the Valley of the Shadow of Death
Thousands of yean ago in the
Garden of Edea sin and dead)
entered the world. Cfer ancestors
from whom all of us descended,
Adam and Eve disobeyed a direct
command from God.
Their rebellion brought a curse
upon the world that win not be lift-
ed until the end times. Suffering
became a part of every person’s life.
Death became our ultimate enemy
and each of us will succumb to it
Genesis 3 not only gives that record
but it also tells us that God has pro-
vided a way out of the mess we cre-
ated. Sin enteredthe world through
Adam and Eve which makes us all
guilty. However, we would be wise
to keep in mind that soon after birth,
as soon as we figured oat how, each
of us also began to sin as fast we
could. Verse 15 of Genesis 3
prophecies that God would send
One who would defeat Satan and
the death he led Adam and Eve to.
Psalm 23 is perhaps the most
familiar chapter in the Bible. Psalm
23:4-6 declares the goodness of
God in the face of our greatest
enemy.Yea, though I walkthrough
the valley of the shadow of death, I
wiU fear no evil: for thou art with
me; thy rod and thy staff they com-
fort me. Thou prepares! a table
before me in the presence of mine
enemies: thou anoinlest my head
with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the
LORD forever. (KJV) When God
was faced with disobedience and
rebellion by the crown of His cre-
ation. He did not respond as most of
us would have. Rather than
destroying the rebellious creatures,
God provide a way out Not only
did He provide a way out. He uses
His rod and His staff to comfort us.
Coming from a shepherd, this
speaks of protection from enemies.
In addition to protection, we receive
tremendous blessing. God sets up a
banqueting table, anoints our heads,
and the provisions He gives are
more than we could ask or imagine.
All of this is “in the presence of our
greatest enemy, death”.
These protections, blessings,
and provisions are not material
things, nor are they spiritual things.
All of God’s gifts to us are wrapped
up in the person of Christ We talk
a lot about a plan of salvation. I sup-
pose that is a somewhat helpful
phrase; however it is more accurate
to speak of a person of salvation.
Salvation is found in a personal
relationship with Christ and no
place else. First Corinthians 15:54-
57 tells of the victory won by Christ
"Death is swallowed up in victory.
"O death, where is your victory? O
death, where is your sting?" The
sting of death is sin, and the power
of sin is the law; but thanks be to
God, who gives us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ.
(NASU) Revelation 1:17-18 tells
us that Christ is the only solution
needed for our greatest problem,
"Do not be afraid; I am the first and
the last, and the living One; and 1
was dead, and behold, I am alive
forevermore, and I have the keys of
death and of Hades.” (NASU)
Christ alone has the answer to your
greatest problem, death. He has
conquered death. Furthermore, He
has the keys to the next life. Trust in
Him and Him alone while still in
this life or you will spend eternity
separated horn Him
