Tops Chapter 250
TOPS Oklahoma Chapter
250 met Oct. 28 in the Donna
Gail Martin Family Life Center
of the First Church of the
Nazarene in Sapulpa.
The meeting was called to
order by Polly Blackburn, group
leader, with the TOPS and
KOPS pledges, flag salute and
silent prayer.
Danny Dawson led the group
in singing TOPS and KOPS
songs with Caron Smith accom-
panying on the piano.
Mary Winters, weight
recorder, conducted roll call
with assistance from Vera
David.
In attendance were 47 mem-
bers, one re-instated member,
Vickie Blazek, and one new
member, Janie Hoffman, and
one visitor, Levina Bingham.

Mannford.

would be appreciated.

form new members on this proj-
ect.
Mrs. Blackburn reminded
members there will he a Fall
Funday Workshop from 10 a.m.
to 3 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Rogers
County Building in Claremore.
Those members planning to at-

Mae Ashton. Bettye Legrand.

and Ira Roberts. Host chapter
will be TOPS Chapter 665 from
Claremore.

by Judy Luna who was one of
12 children in her family.

which they have tried but most
of the weight came back on plus
some. She has discussed you
have to train yourself to eat
right at all times. She thanked
her fellow members for being a
"good TOPS family”.
Several members gave testi-
monies to what a caring and
giving person she is and Myra
Whitehead told of how Judy
overcame some of her shyness
when they did the candy store
skit.
Myrna Dawson read a poem
for Judy entitled "We Are
Family" taken from a book giv-
en to her called “I’m Glad You
Are My Sister”.
The meeting came to a close
with members joining hands in
a circle and singing the Good-
Bye song.
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army wants
every child to have a good
Christmas. To make this hap-
pen. the Christmas Food and
Gift Assistance Program will
begin accepting applications for
assistance soon.
Sapulpa residents are to reg-
ister from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov.
3-7 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to
8 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Salvation
Army Boys and Girls Club at
1721 S. Hickory.
Applicants must provide a
picture ID. birth certificate for
each child 12 years old and
younger, social security card for
everyone in the household,
proof of address and proof of in-
come. Applicants should also
bring a list of expenses in addi-
tion to proof of income. If there
is no income, applicants should
bring a Proof of No Income
Statement from DHS. housing
authority, a new employer, so-
cial security, social worker, ter-
mination letter or the unemploy-
ment office.
Applicants will be inter-
viewed by case managers and
must meet eligibility require-
ments based on income and/or
present extenuating circum-
stances. Clients will be regis-
tered on a first come, first
served basis. For further infor-
mation. call 224-4415.

U.S.A. in Sapulpa at 11:30 Nov.
20 and Dec. 18.
Volunteers
needed
The Retired Senior Volunteer
Program announces volunteer
opportunities for interested per-
sons.
Meals on Wheels drivers are
needed. Call Pat at the center at
224-7184.
Creek County Literacy will
be starting a tutoring program
for seniors in September. The
need volunteers to work one on
one. They also need partners for
the Caring Grands which will
start in October. They also hope
to start an after school program
and will need volunteers. Call
Barbara at 224-9647 for infor-
mation.
Sapulpa Family Resource
Center needs volunteer relief re-
ceptionists to fill in when need-
ed. and someone to clean and
organize the kitchen. Call
Lynette at 224-0216 for infor-
mation.
American Red Cross need
volunteers to train for Disaster
Relief programs. Call Linda
Ward at 227-3288 for informa-
tion.
Domestic Violence
Intervention Services needs of-
fice help. They need someone to
organize and make new files,
make copies, do some computer
work and work in the clothing
donation room. Call 224-9290
for information.
RSVP needs volunteers for
half a day per week to help with
office needs. Computer literacy
would be helpful.
Sapulpa OHCE
The Sapulpa Oklahoma
Home and Community
Education group met Oct. 20 at
the Extension office. President
Janice Brunk called the meeting
to order and led in reciting the
pledge of allegiance to the flag
and the OHCE creed.
Annabell Farmer gave the
devotional and the prayer. Roll
call was answered by naming
your favorite fall flower. Era
Mae Ashton was in charge of
the lesson. She had Mike Hefner
from the Sapulpa Police
Department come and talk to us
on “Safety Tips for Women." He
asked us to he alert at all times,
park cars in a lighted area, carry
keys in your hand, lock car
doors, carry a small purse and
don’t be afraid to call the police.
Sheila read the minutes and
Marty gave the treasurer s re-
port. The following Tibbens
members were our guests.

Club 1
Eleven members of the
Thakatria Study Club recently
met at the Tea Cup for lunch
and then traveled to the
International for a tour. There
was no meeting. The next
meeting will be in the home of
Mae Baxter on Nov. 11 at the
regular time.
