Troopers’ corner
Watch out for your
vehicle’s blind spots
In an effort to keep the
Oklahoma motoring public better
informed, your Troopers will answer
questions in this column on general
information subjects on Oklahoma
traffic laws, “Title 47" and general
information to aid you. Questions
can be sent to The Sapulpa Herald
or to Troop B Headquarters,
Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 9191
East Skelly Drive, Tulsa, Okla.
74129.
These blind spots can be as long as
20 feet in from and 40 feet behind the
vehicle. When backing just remember
the car will travel blind the first 40
feet that the motorist travels.
These same blind spots exist as the
motorist drives down the highway.
Using only mirrors when changing
lanes will leave a blind spot on the
left and right rear of the vehicle.
Do your part for a safer Oklahoma.
Drive safely!

Question:
What is the safety zone around
your vehicle?
Answer:
The safety zone around a vehicle is
defined as the area which is blind to
the motorist as he sits behind the
wheel. It also is the area which is
obstructed from the motorist view by
the hood, trunk and doors.
A good practice is to walk around
the vehicle before you get into the
car, especially at home or anywhere
where small children might be
present.
Few parents have escaped that
crunching feeling after backing over a
bicycle dropped behind your car
overnight. You might save yourself
the price of a new bike and perhaps a
whole lot more.
While doing that walk around the
vehicle, it is a good time to check the
tires, clean the windows and inspect
for safety problems.
Congress is on vacation again —
can you tell?
AN OPEN LETTER
TO THE VOTERS
IN CREEK COUNTY
This letter is in support of DANA JONES BARNETT, who is challeng-
ing April Sellers White for the Associate District Judge position here in Creek
County. We all have had the great pleasure of working with Dana, and also
have become good friends in the meantime. Although the children involved
in the child support cases have always been top priority with Dana, she is
very dedicated to her job and works hard to reach a mutual agreement
between the parents to make the child support payment issues fair to both
parties. Granted, you may come across a few people who have dealt with the
child support office and they may not be happy with the outcome of their
particular case, but we can assure you that DANA JONES BARNETT did
everything within an attorney’s power to be Just and fair.
The majority of the custodial parents and paying parents are very
supportive of Dana, because they know how caring and fair she is to them.
This attitude is evident by child support collections increasing from
$35,000.00 a month, before Dana was the attorney, to over $150,000.00 per
month presently under Dana’s direction. For the month of October, 1994,
the child support office collected an office record of over $200,000.00 in child
support. This would not have been possible without the dedication and hard
work of the attorney DANA JONES BARNETT. Dana is the type of person we
need to be judge over our Juvenile problems and also the divorce hearings.
Dana also has a veiy good working relationship with the Judges in our
county.
Although we will all miss Dana very much in the child support office
when she is elected, we know that it is in the best interest and future of Creek
County that she be Judge. Thank you for your consideration.
DON’T FORGET
VOTE BARNETT!!
Sincerely,
'-ff
