The dashing former general, who was
among the refugees coming to America, has
learned fast. He’s hitting the lecture trail at
$2,500 a shot to tell how the war was lost.
His agent says he hopes to book Ky for
two or more engagements per week If he
maintains that pace, he'll be doing as well on
the speaking circuit as a few of the Watergate
culprits.
The Lighter Side
Much Ado
About Rubbish
By DICK WEST
WASHINGTON <UPI) _
William Shakespeare once
wrote, “Who steals my purse
steals trash "
But that was before a
reporter for The National
Enquirer made off with Henry
Kissinger s garbage
This week the Enquirer
published the contents of the
five trash bags that were
picked up outside Kissinger's
home. If Shakespeare were
alive today would he pen a line
beginning. “Who steals my
trash steals...?”
I like to think so. But since
the immortal bard has long
since departed this vale, we
shall have to rely on existiiq;
quotations to express his
feelings about the great Kiss-
inger trash caper.
Q Mr. Shakespeare, the
State Department said the
rubbish heist “caused great
anguish to Mrs. Kissinger.’’
Would you comment on that,
please?
A. “Now racks a noble heart
A woman moved is like a
fountain troubled —muddy, ill-
seeming, thick, bereft of
beauty.”
Q. The department said the
secretary himself was “really
revolted by what he considers a
violation of the privacy of his
house.” How do you feel about
that?
A. ‘“Tis the curse of service
Is there no respect of place,
persons, nor time?”
Q. Then you agree that trash
stealing is conduct unbecoming
a journalist”
A. “O, reform it altogether.
It smells to heaven. Fish not
with this melancholy bait. It is
not nor it cannot come to
good.”
Q. But the reporter insists he
did nothing improper.
A. “How absolute the knave
is. A snapper-up of unconsid-
ered trifles."
Q. Why would he go to that
much trouble to dredge up
trifles?
A. “Trifles light as air are to
the jealous confirmations
strong as proofs of holy writ”
Q. Did you hear what he

found in the trash bags”
A. “Eye of newt and toe of
frog, wool of bat and tongue of
dog.”
Q. I think you've got that
mixed up with someone else's
garbage, sir. Do you feel the
Kissingers may have over-
reacted just a bit? What would
have happened if they had
treated the whole thing as a
joke?
A. “It would be argument for
a week, laughter for a month,
and a good jest forever The
robb’d that smiles, steals
something from the thief.”
Q. My sentiments exactly.
And deep down didn't you find
the incident rather amusing”
A. “I would not have given it
for a wilderness of monkeys.”
Q. Thank you, Mr. Shakes-
peare.
Q. I bought some $1,MB face
value E bonds la ISM for $7M
each. What are they worth now?
A. About $1,900, plus,
depending upon the month of
purchase
Q Should I sell out snow
convertible debentures at a
lots? I’m retired and need more
income.
A. I figure your convertibles,
selling around 75, are yielding
about 6 per cent You could get 9
per cent on the money by
switching to non-convertible
bonds

W Please scad me a list of
stocks which may be bought at
the rate of $40 a month.
A. Clip any N.Y. Stock Ex-
change market list from your
newspaper.
Q. Just prior to my retirement
in 1917. I bought shares of a
small conglomerate, paying 71.
The stock is now down to around
$1 or $2. The company contianes
to buy and sell companies, but
does nothing for the share-
holders. How long can this
continue?
A. I don't know. Just so long, I
suppose, as the insiders" can
make a good living out of the
company.
It’s too late now to ask
questions. The time for
questioning was eight years ago
when, knowing you would have

Just about anybody who gets a diploma nowadays
flattens it out in a frame Our Langage man finds this
mildly curious inasmuch as “diploma" originally meant
"fold in two.” Documents carried by diplomats were so
doubled over and sealed to hide their contents And it
was the fold in such a paper that gave it the name
