UPI Hollywood Correspondent
HOLLYWOOD (UPI) - Her
name is Sandy Dermis. She’s
blonde, exciting and different.
And you will be hearing from
her.
Sandy, a natice of Nebraska.
Rained a modicum of fame on
Broadway in "Any Wednesdy”
in which she captivated audi-
ences for a full year.
But now she’s graduating to
the big-time. She will co-star
with Richard Burton and Eliza-
beth Taylor in “Who’s Afraid
of Virginia Woolf?"
It s a tremendous opportuni-
ty. a show case, for the radiant
youngster. If she does well.
Sandy won't be afraid of Vir-
ginia Woolf, or anyone else.
And chances are she will r<v
star with Frank Sinatra in the
screw, version of "Any Wednes-
day.”
Sandy, as needs be. has
something special going for
her. She s not the stock Holly,
wood blonde Once you see her
you 1! remember her.
She wears little or no make-
up, driving (he photographers
at Warner Bros, crazy She
also refuses to wear restricting
undergarments.
Sandy stormed Hollywood a
couple of years ago without
^ success She appeared for a
I screen test and the wardrobe
lady insisted she wear a torso
torturing all-m-one foundation
garment.
Sandy took one look at the
iron maiden and quit cold.
“I refused to get all trussed
up with falsies and those whale-
bone corsets,” Sandy explained
If I can t be myself. I won’t
be anyone else.
' The first time I tried the
movies I couldn’t get tested,
but its different this time I
came out here to test for a spe-
cific part. Evervone has been
gracious and helpful. I wanted
‘c plev this role very much
and Im happy the test was
successful.
'I'd like to stay out here and
work in other pictures, but
