go abroad for his health.

of this paper will not secure ten dele,

The entire spectacle is one that iB
abject and disgusting,
Sj bitter and base Imve been the
proceedingstnat hundreds of respec
table people have been driven to sup-
port in behalf'of common decency.
Our people do not desire to be domi-
nated and led by the worst ciass of
citizenship,
It seems also that the ntire post
office machinery has been turned loose
against us, both the postmaster and
his deputies neglecting the duties of
office for political purposes People in-
terested in rural routes have been in-
timidated, and no scheme, no trick,
no trade seems to be too unworthy
for use.
Money has been spread profusely,
and it neems that heaven and earth
are to bo turned in this matter.
The lack of American spirit to us iB
deplorable.
So far as the editor of this paper is
concerned, the outcome is of no par-
ticular consequence. We will conduct
the Enid Event, for many years to
come, regardless of the outcome of the
present contest. And we will endeav-
or to maintain good government and
relegate political shysters and moral
degenerates to the rear with more
vigor and dispatch than ever before.
We are proud of the friendship man-
ifested by tne honest citizens of Enid
and Garfield county, and prize that
frienshlp above all else on earth.
We hope we will ever be able to
merit honest friendship, and will
labor in our humble way to that end,
ALL AGAINST US.
It has been refreshing to note thai
in the campaign for National Dele-
gate this writer has been opposed by
every paper in the city of Enid, They
have loHt no time nor missed no licks
to misrepresent and villify this writer,
t in variuus

alegute "the
ned." These
zealous persons win spread this fe-
port also Btate that three years ago,
before we established the Enid Events
' the Eagle was a good paper, but the
building up of the Events has hurt
the Eagle and the endorsement of
Purcell will completely ruin it."
Too bad ! This paper dislikes to be-
lieve that any publication, however
valueless, is to be put out of business
because o; our success in the councils
of our parrv, yet if the Eagle has not
s ifflcieiit force tnd virtue of itself, we
must await its demisd with tearful-
ness.
Hjwever, this is an explanation of
the reason of the frantic and ill-ad-
vised opposition of that paper to this
writer. Never before in the history of
partisan politics, did a part? paper of
any standing whatever, take sides be-
tween candidates of its party, before
tne convention, and then maliciously
fals.ty, misrepresent and impugn one
of the candidates in an attempt to
build up another, The actions of the
paptr in question in the delegate
matter are too discreditable to notice.
Were it making a campaign against
the candidates of the opposite party
some excuse might remain, but its
abu6e of a party candidate can only
have the effect of augmenting fac-
tionalism and tearing down the
strength of its party. While accus-
ing others of factionalism its every
utterance is fatal to party harmony
and indicative of a violent desire to
tear down the party it should endeav-
or to maihtain,
