j PRESENT INDICATIONS POINT
i TO BEST CROP IN YEARS
LOOKS LIKE OLD TIMES.
r a
Ardmore has a good chance to
make thirty thousand bales of cot-
ton this season and if weather con-
ditions remain favorablo for two
weeks longer the figures will come
very near that mark.
Up to Friday night there had been
marketed here 10553 bales and yes-
terday's receipts brought the amount
well above the 11000 mark.
All of the cotton buyers were seen
yesterday morning and asked for
estimates on the crop. With few
exceptions they placed their esti-
mates around 25000 bales but stat-
ed that with favorable weather con
ditions the crop would be greater.
Pillowing is the figures given by the
different buyers: I. N. Bettlson 27-
fiou. R. A. Cromer 24400. W. C.
Waggoner Jr. 25250 Max AVestheim-
er 24000 W. A. Colley 23000 John
Nichols 25.500 Chas. Wortham 2S-
000 U H. Iove 25000. Tom Roland
22500 T. A. Thurmond 24500 and
Fount Duston 27500.
Yesterday morning it looked like
old times In Ardmore. ISefore ten
o'clock there was a string of wag-
ons extending from the compress to
Main street awaiting their turn at
the yard and an extra force of men
were employed to handle the re-
ceipts. The comprefs was operated
all night and probably will be all
of today.

EX-MAYOR WHOOPING THINGS
UP FOR A GREATER ARDMORE.
HE TALKS.
"It begins to look to me as if there
was something doing In this town"
said ex-Mayor "Sunny Jim" Cotner
yesterday while talking of the rail-
road proposition that the citizens
have been at work on for the past
two weeks "and I am truly glad to
see Ardmore take on new life and
make herself felt in the commercial
iworld. 1 am in favor of every move-
ment for the upbuilding of this city
first because it is my home and sec-
ondly Ibecause it will make what
little property I possess doubly val
uable If you desire my expression
from a selfish standpoint but truly
we need all the railroads we can get
and I for one want every loyal citi-
zen to begin boosting for the inter-
urban lino that has been proposed.
In my opinion that line of road will
be worth as much if not more to the
city as the east and m est line or Ring-
ling road. g
"When we get transportation fa-
cilities we will get factories from the
northern states and we will never
get them' until we can assure them
that we have ample means at our
command tb handle their raw materials
and finished products. Ardmore Is
bound to grow and where we have
suffered severely for the past few
seasons owing to crop failures one has
but to look on our streets this morn-
ing and see the wagons loaded wita
cotton waiting to be sold to reaiiie
that prosperity has again visited us
and to note the contented smiles of
the merchants and farmers.'
