One of the most successful busi-

little cottage for himself and wife
in a Building & Loan company. It
taught him to save. It taught him
the value of a dollar. Today he
owns a handsome home on a pretty
street and owns two business houses
on Main street and a big stock of
goods besides farm lands.

Melwln W. Sheppard the star
sprinter is one of the few competit-
ors in the Olympiad who has shown
continual improvement since the
eevnt. He is therefore being relied
ujion to do splendid work for the Unit-

holm. The United States and Great Brit-
ain are the two principal rivals in the
great Olympic tests this year al-
though Sweden will have some splen-
did athletes in the competitive
events. England has the largest lum-
ber of entrants for the various events
and America runs a close second.
Sweden is third.
J. Frank the Irish-American shot-
putter who would rather compete in
his favorite event than eat. Is push-
ing the pill out further every time he
is entered. His latest heave with
the 12-i)ound measured 51 feet and 5
inches which isn't so very bad.
