ed in the statement of Fire Chief
iligbfe In a statement today that boys
ure breaking the glasses In fire
alarm boxes. At Fourth and Choc tow
and Eleventh and Jennings the gias%-
's are broken in the boxes almost as
soon as they nre placed there. In
other sections of the city glasses are
broken- If any of the youths are ar-
rested it means not only the pay-
ment of a fine but they will likely
have to spend some time in jail-
Chief Hlgbio was told that last
night at cach of the places above
mentioned residents of thoso sections
declare they saw boys throwing
stones at. the fire alarm boxes and
hen run away- A member of the fire
department will probnbly be detallad
to patrol these sections In hopes of
capturing the guilty youths.

Mrs. Mark Haokett 'phoned her hus-
band this afternoon to come homo at
once as about a dozen quail were feed-
ing in their back yard. Mark had
visions of a quail dinner and then It
occurred to him that this was not the
open season for quail. Mark says he
Is going to tell his wife to throw salt
on their tails the next time they ap-
pear.
Washington. Feb. 27—With 4,000
United States troops now en route to
mobilization In camps at Galveston,
Tex-, orders have been issued at the
war department for enough additional
concentration of forces on the Mexi-
can border to enable President Elect
Wilson to do what he pleases with the
Mexican situation. The additional
brigades of ihe Second division, the
Fourth and Sixth, will move toward
the border at once. The entire force
to be mobilized at Galveston before
the end of the week will aggregate
about 10,000 men, all of whom will be
under the command of Major General
William H- Carter. Major General
Carter Is commander 0.' tV; Second
division, U- S. A., with headquarters
at Chicago. General Carter will,
therefore, probably command the
army of invasion in the event of in-
tervention.

Charles Butcher of Bartlesville Is In
a Serious Condition.
Charles Butcher, a Bartlesville
young man who was seriously injured
When kicked in the head by a liorse
at Cushing Tuesday, will be brought
to the hospital in this city tonight.
The exact nature of his injuries will
not be disclosed until he is operated
upon. A telephone message from his
father this morning stated his condi-
tion was serious- He has been un-
conscious most of the time since th>
accident.
The injured man and his brother an
engaged in the wholesale meat busi
ness In Cushing- When Butcher wen

topped. Baughman, he said, also
alighted from the car. Bowman shot
twice, he said, and then Behnlng fired
a couple of shots- Bowman fell over
dead- Meanwhile Mayfield, who was
at another wagon had opened fire.
Lamb fired at Mayfield- Witness said
that Mayfield exchanged several shots
with Behning and Lamb, but threw up
his hands when he waB wounded slight
ly in the left arm. Mayfield had
thrown his gun away- When tho fir-
ing had ceased Elmer Smith and Lylo
McCandless, two oil workera who had
witnessed the killing, climbed into a
buggy and started to drive in the di-!
rcctlen of Caney. McCandless had
been wounded in the shoulder.
Witness stated Mayfield walked to-
ward the automobile party with his
hands In the air and shouted: "Don't
shoot any more: I am all shot to
pieces." He said Behnlng nnd Baugh-
man drove the car back to where they
left Ball and Truskett and gave up
the car to Truskett. Behning and
Baughman returned to the scene of the
tragedy. The body of tne dead offi-
cer was placed in one of the wagons
und taken to Caney by Mayfield. Pet-
ero said he ordered the drivers of his
wagons to drive them home. Behnlng,
Baughman and Peters took Bowman's
car and started for Bartlesville- They
drove to tho home of Peters where the
guns were left- That was late in the
evening- That was the last time, the
witness declared, he saw Behning.
The next lime he saw Baugbm&n was
when the latter 'was brought to the
county jail in the custody of Sheriff
Jordan a few days later-
