The Oklahoma people who are in-
clined to complain should investigate
the condition of affairs at other
points before growling too much. It
will be found that they are better off
in many respects than those they
probably envy and that in the wave
of general prosperity that is begin-
ning to sweep over the country, they
are likely to be borne on the top billow.

The school fund convention was
held at Guthrie, Thursday of last
week and the attendauce while not as
large as was expected, was fair and
much enthusiasm was manifested
Interesting and eloquent speeches in
favor of the movement were made
and a good set of resolutions adopt-
ed.
The "Society for the Advancement
of the interests of Oklahoma" was
organized with the following officers
President—Prof. Frank Terry, of
Guthrie.

Norman.
Recording secretary—W. A. Bux
ton, of Guthrie.

died at Indianapolis, on the 23d
instant at the age of scyenty years.

much damage being done at Wash-
ington and other large cities.
Oklahoma's grain markets are
getting better every day and the
farmer who has products to sell by

future have factories if it is to prosper
as it should, and right at the present
time, work should be commenced to
secure them.
Senator Plumb has been disap-
pointed in his expected visit to Okla-
homa, having been called unexpect-
edly to Montana on a business which
will require his attention until the
opening of congress.—Gazette.
The Transcript trusts that every-
body enjoyed a good diuner and was
truly thankful last Thursday. While
everyone is not fully satisfied with
their circumstances, surely all have
something to be thankful for at the
present time.
The National Republican conven-
tion is to be held at Minneapolis, on
June 7th, 1802. The Republican
national committee were in session at
* Washington, i). C., on the 23rd
instant and on the seventh ballot
Minneapolis gained the prize by twen-
ty-fl ve out of the forty-three votes cast.

Whereas. Public expression of tho people
living in < Iklahoma and Indian territories, as
tunced through the public press, has
?u a universal desire to have the Com-
mercial Club of Oklahoma City in Okluhoma
Territory, issuea call for a delegate conven-
tion to beheld at Oklahoma City, com|M>sod
of delegates chosen from each | olical division
id territories upon a basis established by
said Club, to discuss the advisability of state-
hood and the boundary lines of the pro|>oiied
state.
Therefore. A delegate convention composed
f one delegate from each 500 inhabitants
living in each political division of Oklahoma
the Indian Territory, and two for each
city or town, to be elected iu a manner to be
,-ided for by those composing such
divisions is hereby called to meet at the opera
*e in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma Terri-
tory. on Thursday, December 15, A. D. 199
10 o'clock a. m. on said day for tho pur|N)se
named.
It is also requested that the people uf each
county, city or towu.or politicul sub-division,
meet in muss convention on Dec. 8, 1891, at
1 o'clock p. m. aud select the respective iium-
l>er of delegates. The governor of (>klahoma.

tory, the governor of tho five nations of the
Indian Territory and the press of l oth terri-

An old gentleman named Winter,
living six miles south of Choctaw
City was crushed to death by a run
away team on Friday. He was caught
between the wagon and a tree.

The meeting of the Oklahoma
World's fair commissioners Monday,
was attended by representatives
from every county except Beaver and
County A.
The following were present: Cleve-
land county, M. L. Bixler and wife;
Canadian, Miss Mattie Kelso and A.
L. Goddard;Kingfisher Capt. St.Clair;
Logan, Mrs Kock and Prof. Hallock;
Payne, J. E. Sater; county B. Judge
Clardy and Miss Saver, and Mrs
Holloman, Oklahoma City; Col. Miles,
Mr. O. Beeson and wife, Mr. John
Wallace and wife, of the national
commission.
At the afternoon session the com-
mission organized by electing the
governor of the territory president;
M. L. Bixler, vice-president; Miss
j Mattie Kelso, secretary and Capt.
St Clair, treasurer.
The evening was partly devoted to a
visit to the cominericial club, there
resulting an earnest conference con-
cerning the proper course to pursue
in regard to the work. Col. Miles
made the principal speech of the
evening and touched some very inter-
esting points.
After the conference the commission
held another meeting at which much
business was transacted. The gover
nor was instructed to appoint six
committees to look after the various
