The Apple Pie
thai "showed me"

- i'3
(Report No. 4) By a Missourian
I was raised in St.
Louis Missouri on
nnplo pie and ither
things.
When I arranged
to have K make.
apple pie with Cotto-
lene I wanted pie
with a wholesome flaky
crust. I got it. I'll ex-
plain here how.
After K had
dried her hands I had
to argue to get her tu
follow the directions
to use one-third less
of Cottolenc than she
would of other short-
ening. Hut soon
K said"Cottolene
certainly chops in
easy." When the
dough was mixed she
put it in the ice-box
for a while. That suit-
id me because K
faid it helped to make
the crust flaky.
Then she rolled the doueh.
!y this time the oven was
hot. I waited half an hour
Imping for flaky-crusted apple
1 was not disappointed.
That was as good an apple
pie as 1 ivsr tasted. The
crut certainly was finky.and
the flavor was delicious. I
was shown.
If you want to he shown
too why don't you nuke a
pic with Cottolenc?
This is the recipe FC
used for her pic crust:
One and one-half cups flnur
Halt tiMi'oii bilking powder
I Ulf tea-noon ult
