RETURNS MONEY
AND LEAVES TOWN, j
Mangum people have always been
known as generous people, ready to
help those in distress and who are I
worthy; they have been imposed up-
on many times but last week a fellow |
attempted to pull off about the raw-
est thing that has lieen attempted
here in some time.
He hit town soliciting donations
for a farmer whose home had been
destroyed by fire, and who was repre-
sented to live about eight miles
northwest of Mangum; all the banks
and numerous other citizens and
jl usiness firms contributed to his re-
11 ief, some in small amounts, amount-
I ing in all to about $9.
I Somebody becarrv leary of the pur-
| pose to which the funds were to be
j devoted; an investigation revealed
the fact that no farmer by that name
I lived in th .t section of the country;
| officers hunted the solicitor up and
| he claimed the fire victim lived near
'Elk City.
20 lbs. Granulated Sugar $1
For Friday and Saturday only we will sell
20 pounds granulated sugar for $1.00 with
an order of $5.00 or more of other goods.
Read the following prices and you will be
convinced that it is a great saving to buy at a
CASH STORE.
When asked about the matter the
solicitor expressed the opinion that he
thought about the best thing to do
was to give back the money to the
donors, for he said he did not want
to get into any trouble. Deputy
Marshall Nicholson went with him to
the various places he had sreured do-
nations and the money was refunded
and the solicitor left town on the first
train, possibly in search of greener
fields.—Mangum Star.
CURED OK INDIGESTION.
Mrs. Sadie I', dawson, Indiana,
Pi., was bothered with indigestion.
"My stomach pained me night and
day," she writes. "I would feel bloat-
ed and have headache and belching
after eating. I also suffered from con-
stipation. My daughter had used
Chamberlain's Tablets and they did
her so much good that she gave me a
few doses of them and insisted upon
my trying them. They hel|>e<J.-me as
nothing else has done." For sale by all
dealers.
