A Noble Outcast.
la.only the title of a play, but our
American Penitentiaries no douht have
many a |s«ir man just such victims ns
poor Jerry the trami*. This is a play
in live acts and each act is a volume
within itself. A touch of nature in a
stagedoro. A play with more success-
ful productions to its credit than either
'•Fast l.ynn’, or "Ten Nights in a
Barroom.” Its first production being
in October, 1H00 in Paris, translated in
1H8S hy J. A. Fraser. Many plays
have been built on "A Noble Outcast”
and in spite of their sadly mangled
condition in which the lines and
situations have been presented when-
ever the genuine manuscript has been
played, a success so wonderful has
been attained as to stamp it as the
most powerful drama on the American
stage. No character was ever found
with such power as Jerry, the tramp,
to compel alternate laughter anti
tears.

Vote For Metzger.
There is no reason why any Republi-
can in the lttth district should fail or
refuse to vote for F. P. Metzger for
delegate to the constitutional conven-
tion. He is a Republican and a clean,
capable, honest man who will represent
the people and not the corporations or
IM.Iitical factions. On the prohibition
question ho takes the only fair and
reasonable |x.sition of submitting it to
the people to decide at the polls whether
they want prohibition or not. Those
who are o|qM>xing hini on this proposi-
tion are nut willing to abide by a fair
ami free vote of the people, but are
determined to force their pet measure
u|Kin the |**ople whether they want it
or not hy compelling them to either
vote for prohibition or vote to reject
the constitution altogether. This is
the condition as it exists, and any
effort to make it appear otherwise is
simply subterfuge.—Ponca Courier.
