To the ( ili/ens of Hennessey, Okla.
We call your attention to the
various statements made by
Mayor John Smith through the
col ti ill ns of the l'ress Democrat
some of which we have answered
and shown to the people of lien
nessey those statements were
exaggerated, false and mislead
iiiiT. We wish to show you the
truth regarding other statements
subsequently made through the
Press Democrat. The great
dilT rence in the coal "f this
year and last never existed as
stated by Mr. John Smith. Mr.
Dull' still luls a coal hill unpaid
this year which lias not been in
eluded in the coal account of this
present council and Mr. Smith
Ii is not shown the large amount
of coal carried over from last
year to this. The extreme cold
weather last year and the very
wann winter this year cuts a
dilfereiicein the coal expenditure.
Also they did not charge their
administration with over l<ioo
dollars interest oil bonds. lie
gardinj? the atty fee which Mr.
Smith men I ions while we were
members of this council a large
portion of this ally fee aeeiiinii
lated while we were Irving to en
force an ord i nance which d i reeled
Mr (■. 11. I Hock to construct
sidewalk and gutter on his lots
Nos. I and L' lilock W>, Hennessey
Okla. Mr. lilock refused to put
ill walk and guttering and when .
we tried to enforce the law Mr.
lilock enjoined thevillageof Hen
nessey making a large Attorney
fee which the taxpayers of this
city had to pay, and further when
we tried to carry out the mandate
J of the (iuthrie Okla. court Mr. •
lilock en joined the Count v Treas
i u>*er from selling said property,
I and collecting this tax as ordered
! by Judge liurford of Guthrie to'
lo l > paid,—which will make the
tax payers of Hennessey additi-
onal taxes. You will note that
[the present City council have
I done nothing towards collecting
these taxes which Mr. Block re-
i fuses to pay and you will further
note that Mr. Block is now a
| mem her of this present council
'of 3rd ward and Mr. Block is try-
: ing to be reelected this year and
!you can see that his presence in
1 the council flu ring the last vear
just
has kept, hi in from pa.vii
■ tax and his presence anothi r
! year with his oresont associates
I would go a long way in putting
| this whole tax upon thevillageof
Hennessey and still Mr. Block
| gets the full beuelitof I his side-
j walk and guttering which t he tax
payers of Hennessey have paid
lor him. There is onlv one oilier
j pel son in Hennessey w'"o has re
fused to pay his sidewalk and
guttering tax and this man is so
unprincipled tliat we are ashamed
for 11iin and dislike to mention his
name. That I he city of llennes
sey has such a man wiLinn its
| boundaries is bad enough with
out putting his name before the
! public There are further rea
sons why the present council wish
to retain their positions in the
council ol Hennessey for another
year. During the lirst coustruc
tion of the J'ify water works about
worth of warrants were
issued which were declared ille-i
g;il by the di tr.cl court of King
tisher and the city treasurer |
of Hennessey lias been pel ina-
nentl.y enjoined and ordered by
the district court not to pay these I
illegal warrants and now comes
the I tank of Lawton and sues the
village of Hennessey for the
amount ot these illegal warrants
a'ld interests which will amount
to about $i(K)0. The present

COME LET US REASON TOGETHER.
Do you believe in the trust?
Isn't it your earnest desire to down the trust?
Do you think it is to your interest to buy your harvester of the
trust?
Isn't it true t hat so long as you patronize a trust that It will
continue to flourish, and you be compelled to suffer its evil
influences?
Then why help to sustain that which is calculated to rob you
of tlie thing most dear to our American people "LIBERTY".
The Acme harvesting Hachine Co. is "Independent" of any
trust, and is offering to you the best and most complete line cf
Harvesting machinery on earth. Including Binders, Headers,
Header Binders, Mowers, Hayrakes, Sweeprakes, and Stackers.
Then get your heads together, think, think hard, act, act wise,
get into the bandwagon of "Liberty" with us. "Put to the bad"

council will confess judgment on
these warrants and their re-elec-
tion will cause the taxpayers of
Hennessey to be compelled to
pay these illegal warrants. Any
council who are working for the
interests of our city should do
feud those interests and not try
to make the people pay illegal
debts. This suit should have
been brought against the makers
of these illegal warrants and their
bondsmen.and this may be the
cause of the present council pre
ferring this city to pay these
illegal warrants.
