of $1.25 will be collected at Alva for
all students resident in Oklahoma, and

A Sunday school convention for
Woodward county Is hereby called to
t in Hie Baptist church, in Wood-
ward, Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 14th,
continuing through Wednesday, the
15th.
A program will be arranged and an-
nounced uext week. Bev J. E. l'liitt,
one of the best Sunday school institute
and convention workers in the west
will he present, representing the Ter-
ritorial Inter-Di'uomiiiational Sunday
School Association and. will deliver
several addresses, couiluct normal les-
sons aud conferences.
This work is wholly inter-denomina-
tional and tbe convention is a move
towards organizing Woodward county
auxiliary to the great International
Sunday School Association, in which
all the Evangelical denominations oj
the world cooperate, thus becoming
connected with the Sunday school work
of the world and bettering our work
and our workers and improving all our
Sunday schools. Let every Suuday
school in the county whether union or
denominational be represented by one
or more delegates and every teacher
aud officer turn out aud participate.
All delegates from schools outside of
Woodward will be entertained by the
hospitable people of our city.

Thornton Dean, the 10-year-old son
of Judge Dean, met with what
near being a fatal accident last Tues-
day moruiug. He and ills brother
Charley want to the pasture north of
the river to drive up some horses. In
running after the horses one of them
fell and the liorse lie wus riding fell
over the one that was down, throwing
lilm over its head and to the ground
with such force as to render hint un-
conscious. lie was riding a man's
saddle and the stirups being too long
he had put bis feet through the straps
and one foot hung in the strap when
the horse fell. Hud Craig was passing
along near bv and came to his assist-
ance and released the then unconscious
boy Trout bis perilous situation. Mr.
Craig then waived to Chas. Dean, who
was some distance away and who had
not witnessed the accident. Mr. Craig
came to town immediately and Judge
Dean hurried to the scene with a car-
riage and brought the unconscious boy
home. Dm. Workman and Munger
were called and after several hours be
was restored to consciousness. At this
writing he is able to be up and 1* con-
sidered out of danger.
