To the music of the band the salo of
clothing, gents furnishing goods, etc.,
advertised to be sold at 50 cents on the
dollar, was opened yesterday in the
room one door north of the Internat-
ional hotel. A large force of clerks
had been secured, and from early morn
until late at night great crowds passed
in and out of the emporium, and none
left without carrying a bundle. At
one time so great was the pressure
that even the experienced clerks colild
not wait upon the customers and the
doors bad to be closed for awhile to al-
low them a breathing spell.
Mr. Jacobs, the manager, is elated
with his trade and stales that he will
continue to receive large invoices of
goods all this week, and parties who
have not supplied themselves with
clothing, etc., will do well to call at
once. He has an immense stock of fine
goods and is selling at extra low prices
—prices which cannot be duplicated in
the west.
Head his advertisement on tho first
page of the Journal, and do not fail
to call tomorrow and examine goods
and prices. 14-lt.

An Important Case.
The contest on the Calhoun claim,
which adjoins Sout\ Oklahoma on the
east, was decided yesterday by the reg-
ister and receiver of the Oklahoma
City land office. Altogether there were
five or six conteu tiled, but all default-
ed but two, Eckelberger and McCor-
nack. The evidence showed that Eck-
elberger was in the territory during
the greater part of the prohibited peri-
od, and that he took possession of the

The ball game at Guthrie
between the Guthrie boys and Oklaho-
ma City club broke up in a row in the
seventh inning. The score Stood three
to four in favor of Guthrie, with our
boys at the bat, with a man on third
and nobody out. The trouble arose
over some rank decision by the umpire.
Berger. Tho boys are certain that
with a fair deal they would have won
and say that as Guthrie won the cap-
ital fight hv the rank decision of one
imiu, so did they steal the ball game.
It was a fine game from start to lini >h,
as the score shows.
