Highway robbery is gutting to be a
very common occurrence 6n the roads
leading out of town. Only a few
weeks ago Judgo llo.t was held up by
two men and robbed of 230 on the
road botweeu this oily and his home
three and a hatf miles cast of the city
Tuesday night about eight o'clock
as Mrs. Walton and Dick Dove were
driving homo in their convoyanco two
men held them up on the road betwson
the farms of D. W. Martin and Judgo
Holt cast of towu and while one of
the robbers hold a gun on the victims
the other Marchod them relieving
Mr. Dove of a gold watch nnd soma
money and alto relieved Mrs. Walton
of some small change. It was too
dark to distinguish their faces but
tho victims think they were negroas.
Mrs. Walton and Mr. Dovo had been
to town and fortunately they had paid
out nearly all their money for sup-
plies or they would havo boon much
tho loser by tho encounter with tho
robbors.
