PATRIOTISM SLUMPING-
The record of the war savings
stamps cashed and sold at the
Chickasha postotTiec during the
past nioiilh is far from one to
which the community can ' point
with pride." In fact our people
should blush with shame when
they contemplate it. Post master
Barefoot reports about ten
times more of these stamps
cashed than the sales . amounted
to during Ihc same period.
As is well known the govern-
ment contemplated that somo ef
these securities would be turned
into money by people who were
unable to hold them but there
a it good reasons 1o believe that
they are being cashed by holders
who are under no stress of dire
necessity. The main motive
which actuated the purchasers of
AV. S. S. was patriotism and the
same motive requires that they
be retained by the purchaser..
The war has been won hut the
bills have not been paid. Our
government needs money and
for this purpose must and will!
float the' Victory loan. Every j
time a stamp is cashed it takes
money from the federal treasury.
Iieal patriotism is as active hi
peace as it is in war. .Are you
cashing your stamps to buy some-'
thing which you can do without?
If so you are confessing that!
: your patriotism is slumping. It
is just as patriotic to hold your
stumps now as it was to buy'
them and to cash them when
by making some sacrifice you
are able ro retain them is
as unpatriotic as it was origi-
nally to refuse to buy them.
A new issue of War Saving
stamps is on the market. They
are being sold because the gov-
ernment needs the money to pay
war bills and because it wants
to encourage the saving habit.
The War Savings stamp is the
best investment anybody ever
made. The buying of them af-
fords a most convenient method
of saving. Instead of cashing
the stamps you have get the
habit of buying them regularly
mouth. This habit is sensible as
well as patriotic
UP TO THE COURTS.
It has never been the policy of
Ihe Express or any other reput-
able newspaper as far as we
know to try law suits in its col-
umns and neither do reputable
lawyers practice that policy.
After a case has been decided in
the courts editorial comment is
proper but not before it has
reached that stage. In keeping
with this policy we enter into
no discussion of the merits of the
Oscar Simpson case but it is
perfectly permissible now that
all agreements in regard to the
case have been set aside to ex-
press the opinion that it should
lie prosecuted to the limit.

But almost any experienced mar
ried man knows that on the whole it
is better to suffer in silence instead
of exploding when he has to wait till
ihis wife gets ready.
The noise you heard in the direc-
tion of the O. C. W. yesterday was
not a big gun exploding at Fort Sill.
It was merely Mr. Austin celebrating
the passage of the building bill by
the legislature.
It is a reasonably safe bet that ev-

SCRIPTURE
Isaiah 52:5-10.
Now therefore what have I here
saith the Lord that my people is
taken away for nought? they that
rule over them make them to howl
saith the Lord; and my name con-
tinually every clay is blasphemed.
Therefore my people shall know
my name: therefore they shall know
in that day'that I an he that doth
speak: behold it is I.
How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of him that bringeth
good tidings that publisheth peace;
that bringeth good tidings of good
that publisheth salvation; that saith
unto Zion Thy God reigneth!
Thy watchmon shall lift up the
voice; with the voice together shall
they sing: for they shall see ye eye to
eye when the Lord shall bring again
Zion.
Break forth into joy sing together
ye waste places yof Jerusalem: for
the Lord hath comforted his people
he liath redeemed Jerusalem.
The Lord hath made bare his holy
arm in the eyes of all the nations;
and all the ends of the earth shall
see the salvation of our God.
EXTRA WEAR
FROM SHOES
"A year ago I had my shoes re-
soled with Neolin Soles. The soles
are still in service and it looks as if
I would not be able to wear them out
because the uppers are going first"
said W. C. Dickinson of New Haven
Conn.
Good repair shops everywhere carry
these tough and durable soles. See
for yourself how long they last by
having them put on a pair of old shoes.
Or if you are in need of new shoes buy
them with Neolin Soles. They cost
no more than shoes that give less
wear and you need fewer pairs. They
come in many styles for men womsn
and children. .
Neolin Soles are created by Science
to be comfortable and waterproof as
well as long-wearing. They are made
by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
