the county convention to be held In
the court ho'ufie in Chickasha on Fcr-
mary 15th 1008 at which time thirty
delegates will be elected to attend
convention to be held at Muskogee
February 22nd 1908 for the purpose
of selecting delegates from each con-
gressional district and four delegates
at large to attend the national conven-

REPEAL CONFLICTING ORDIN-
ANCES. Whereas In pursuance of the pro-
visions of ordinances heretofore pass-
ed providing for the Improvement of
Kauaas avenue from the west line of
Railroad street west to the east line
of the alloy between Fifth street and
Sixth street and the establishment
of street improvement district No. 2
constituted of said portion of Kansas
avenue and the lots and tracts of
land abutting thereon In the city of
Chickasha and other proceedings had
and taken according to law contracts
have been let for grading paving
curbing and guttering the road-
way of said portion of said ave-
nue as in said ordinances pro-
vided and as authorized by the
act of congreas approved April
2Gth 1906 entitled "An Act to Pro
vide for tho Final Disposition of the
Affairs of the Five Civilized Tribes
In the Indian Territory and for Other
Purposes" and the total cost of said
improvement has beenascertained and
ia hereby determined to be the sum of
$31420.80 to be paid by assessments
against the lots and tracts of land
abutting upon said portion of said
avenue so const.itutins said street Im
provement district No. 2; and
Whereas all legal requirements
have been fully complied with to
authorize the levying of assessments
gaainst said lota and tracts of land
liable to assessment for the cost of
said improvements and
Whereas it has been ascertained
and is hereby declared that each of
said lots and tracts of land will be
specially benefitted by said improve-
ments to the extent of the cost there-
of to the center of the street as far
as such lot or tract of land abuts
thereon therefore
HE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY CHICK-
ASHA:
Section 1. That there shall be and
hereby is apportioned to and assessed
against the several lots and tracts of
land In said street improvement dis-
trict No. 2 with the improvements
thereon and the appurtenances there-
to belonging the amounts respective-
ly as follows towlt:

Section 2. That the assessment
hereby levied on each of uie above
mentioned abutting and benefitted
lots and parcels of land is hereby de-
clared to be a lien upon such lot or
parcel of land to the same extent as
other taxes and shall be collected and
enforced according to law.
Section 3. That said assessmeuU
shall be divided Into and shall be pay
able !n twenty (26) fn.i.. annual In-
stalments as authorized by said act of
congress; that said assessments shall
bear Interest at the rate of six per
cent () per annum payable at the
time of the payment of the several
installments' of sn'd assessments and
from the date of the passage of Una
ordinance until paid that the first
iriPtfiUment of said assessments and
interest on the whole assessment
from the diUe of the passage of tfiis
ordinance shall be payable on the
first day ot Fobmarv 1909 aad the
remaining installments with the year
ly interest on the unpaid Instalments
shall be payable on the first day of
February of each succeeding year nn
til all shall be paid; provided how
ever that any of the owners ot the
lots or tracts of land so assessed may
at any time within twenty days from
the passage of this ordinance pay to
the city collector of the city of Chick
asha the full amount of the assess
ment so levied against their said lots
and tracts of land with interest there
on to the date of such payment and
thereby release such property from
the lien of such assessment
land the owners of lots and tracts of
of land within said street unpiovo-
nient district so assessed who desire
to object to such assessment for any
reason are required to file wiih the
civ clerk of the city of Chickasha
within twenty days from the passage
of this ordinance a statement in
writing setting forth their objections
and the grounds thereof and such
owners are hereby notified that a
meeting of tho city council of the
city of Chickasha will be held at the
council chamber in said city on tile
Uih day of February I'.tuS at which
meeting any such objections will be
heard and considered by said city
council.
Section 4. That the city collector of
the city of Chickasha bo and hereby
is directed to mail to each person
owing said assessments not more
than forty and not less than tniny
days before tho maturity of. each in-
stallment of such assessments a no
tice in writing stating the amount
owing by such person of such annual
tnsuillnieut and interest thea due and
that unloss the same shall be promptly
t.nld when due the statutory penalty
will ta added and proceedings taken
according to law for collection of
