CHACKASHA OKLAHOMA THURSDAY AUGUST 13 1908.
You want the honor of helping to
lect Mr. Bryan. Send in a donation
tor the campaign fund.
c
Every Grady county democrat is in-
vited to contribute to the isryan cam-
paign fund. Come on with your dol-
lar. o
"Brighter than ever before" is the
view of the Chickasha situation tak-
"'ca by 'Booster Dick McKay. And
that's what everybody Bays.
o-
Street cars and an interurban line
are an absolute certainty if the peo-
ple of Chickasha buy 100 lota in Uni-
versity Addition. You can't make a
better investment and there is no more
effective way to help build a city.
o
County fair! . uit pre the people
going to do about it? Let the firm-
i
era take the lead and Chickasha will
second tbe motion. An association
should be started now with the pur-
pose of holding a county fair that will
do credit to great Grady.
o
Chickasha landed the next reunion
of the Confederate veterans of Okla-
homa and one of her citizens Mr.Ik-
ard was elected to membership oi.
the state board of agriculture on the
same day. There is nothing like hav-
ing the winning habit and Chickasha
is acquiring an aggravated case of It.
o
Mr. Bryan's fine sense of humor
was illustrated in the following ref-
erence to Mr. Kern nude In a speech
at a banquet where the nominee for
vice president was present:
"He is naturally somewhat embar-
rassed at the approaching notification.
"I realize how it Is wlrh a beginner
but I am sure that if he will persevere
the time wiil come when he feels as I
do about it so accustomed to being
notified that It seems scarcely an ex-
traordinary occasion."
Bryan's speech of acceptance was
brief but It touched the great issue of
the campaign with & master hand
makiDg it plain that the people are
cal!d upon to choose between the par-
ty that stands for special privileges
and the party whose motto is "Equal
rights to all special privileges to
none."
-o-
JUSTICE TO ALL
Recognizing that 1 .am indebted
for my nomination to the rank
and file of our party and that my
election must come if it comes
at all from the unpurchased and
unpurchasable suffrages of the
American people I promise if en-
trusted with the responsibilities
of this high office to consecrate
whatever ability I have to the
one purpose of making this in
fact a government in which the
people rule a government which
will do justice to all and offer to
every one the highest possible
stimulus to grat and penistent
effort by assuring to each the en-
joyment of his just share of the
proceeds of his toil no matter in
what part of the vineyard he la-
bors or to what occupation pro-
fesslon or calling he devotes him-
self. William J. Bryan.
NO BACKBONE
In a speech of 12000 words Judge
T.aft has not contributed a sentence
to the education of the people in
political matters. There is .no
backbone no meat no strength in
his speech. From beginning to end
it Is a plain attempt to keep on both
sides of the great issues which are to
be fought in the campaign.
It Is said that President Roosevelt
who read ibe speech before it was
printed was satisfied with it. It is
also Bald that the Wall Street opera-

CHANCE TO DOUBLE YOUR MONEY
The reward of one duty 13 the power to fulfill another.
Strong reasons make strong actions necessary.
Chickaaha's crucial test Is near at hand.
The citizens have a duty to perform.
To insure the building of the street railroad and interurban
three hundred lota must be sold in Univenity Heights.
This should be no task at all.
It should be but a mere breakfast spell for a community of
people who feel the great need of the street railroad and interur-
ban. The lots should go like hot cakes.
Ever lot in the addition will bz wo'tb. $300 the day the street
railroad commences running into it; and the lots on the boulevard
on the stieet railroad line and fronting the park and campus will
be worth $400 and upward.
The Extei.tion and Improvement Company has purchased
the grounds and will guarantee the bonuses provided three hun-
dred lots are sold within a reasonable time
The lots are 50x140 and the terms are $25.00 in sixty days
$25.00 in ninety days and $25 00 in one hundred and twenty days;
$1 1500 when cars are running over the street railroad into the ad.
dilion and $110.00 when the interurban is running cars between
Chickasha and Sulphur.
The street -ar line is to be completed within one year and the
interurban within two years.
If the street railroad is built and the interurban is riot the
purchasers get their lts for $197 and if the street railroad is not
built in time specified the 75 will bs refunded to the purchaser.
Thus it will be seen that the lot buyers have not only long
time in which to make payments but they likewise stand a chance
of having to pay but $190 for their lots with the street railroad
running to or within three blocks of them but one tier of lots
will be over three blocks from the street railroad.
The distribution of lots will be made through drawing similar
to that adopted by th'; government in distributing lands names
on one set of cards and lot number and block on another set draw
ing from each similtaneously.
Look at it in any way you may and the proposition is a safe
one for the lot buyer.

THE BRAVEST BATTLE
(Joaquin Miller)
The bravest battle that ever was
fought
Shall I tell you when and where?
On the maps of the world you will find
It not;
'Twas fought by the mothers of men.
Nay not with a cannon or battle shot
With sword or nobler pen;
Nay not with eloquent words or
thought
From mouihs of wonderful men.
But deep In a walled up woman's
heart
Of woman that would not yield
But bravely silently bore her part
Lo there was the battlefield.
No marshaling of troops no bivouac
song
No banner to gleam or wave;
But oh these battles they last so
... ting '
From babyhood to the grave.
Yet faithful still as the bridge of stars
She fights in her walled up town
Fights on and on in the endless wars
Then silent.unseen goes down.
O ye with banners and battle shot
And soldiers to shout and praise
I tell you the kingliest victories fought
Were fought in these silent ways.
O.spotless woman in a world of shame!
With a splendid and silent scorn
Go back to God as white as you came
The knightliest warrior born!
