After 0 o'clock tho tlmo for tho

but as far as can bo learned only six

The flro started In tho Doston Leaguo

uomcH 01 men and women who were
working with franttn cnonrv to irot out
their household goods nnd uTcn before
tney could remove them to n safo placo
tho walls burned and crumbled down.
At 5 o'clock tho entire block along
the west sldo of Tremont street from
Wnlpolo to llurke was a brilliant mass
of flames which swept across to tho op-
posite side nnd soon engulfed the build-
ings for four blocks lly this time the
residents of tho tenements for nearly
half n mile nround had become alarmed
nnd were moving nil their property In-

So rapidly did tho lire cat Its way

Whllo tho firemen were fighting on

dreds of people from all lands. I was
about through and walked toward tha
center ot the church where my wlfo
stood when she called my attention to

pulse was to look around and seo how
many people were then ta church and
to my great joy there wero only about

When asked for his own opinion as
