PURNED
The range men have turned loose
for 'the winter and have established
their "camps" and "lines" to be pa-
trolcd by the boys to force back the
cattle when they drift southward
From the storms and chilling winds.
The cattle arc allowed to graze at
will over the range and to seek shel-
ter where they may but they are
forced back some distance when they
attempt to drift across the lines con-
stantly patroled by the men.

Mr. William Williams is absent
in Texas. His now house is nearly
finished.
Mrr T?b3rnokls our Agency trader
returner! from the east last week
locking well.
The new church is nearly .''finished.
Tt will be used for a time for a school
for white children. It is expected
lhat the school will open next Monday.
Mr. Frank Fred7is"aMlicted with a
severe cold and fever. Dr. Chase of
Reno ministered to his necessities
and we all hope put the patient oh
the' road of lvedvcry.
Mrs. TCnhn and her daughters
Misses Kiltie and Grace returned to
the Agency last week. Mr. TCnhn
looks ten years younger and Miss
Lammond is rejoicing in warm din-
ners as well as Ihe pleasure of good
company.
Win. .Bnller died last week. The
prevailing malaria of the Territory
was the original cause of his sick-
ness but il rapidly complicated wilh
otljcr difT ultics and in a week ter-
minated iatnlly. Mr. "Butler came to
the Territory some years ago marry-
ing into the Indian tribes his last
wife being Long Hart's daughter a
no(cd Caddo. The funeral was on
Sunday afternoon.
The tribulations of Dr. Chase in
journeying from Sill to Anakarko
reminded one of the canny Scotch-
man who rode his old brown mare
all night long to reach his home
only a mile distant from the village
and found in tho morning that he
had been circling around the hay-
stack in his own barn-yard. Tt
would have been worth a journey to
Couovcr's ranch to have seen the
Doctor's ruby countenance when he
foiiixl himself after driving all night
jusf where ho started the night be-
