George Boyd the genial foreman
for tho .Standard C.rttlc Co. paid us
a short visit a few days ago.
J.Will Carter an old-time friend
stopped over night with us last week
while on his way to Texas. He is
to return with a herd oi' long horns
for tho K. C. Cattle Co. of which ho
is a manager.
Your readers will be very sorry to
hear that My. Haury has been very
near death's door since your last
issue. He was taken sick on the
night of tho 12th and for two days
was not expected to live. Wo are
very glad to state that he is now
around very nearly as well as ever.

a number of your good Agency peo-
ple. Mr. Hir;schler Misses Welty
and Kable came in orfc load and
Mrs. Shultz and Mr. Maftet in an-
other on tho same day. This week
Mr. Haury 's father and Miss Krch-

your readers may remember Mr.
Neal as he wras lastsummor on the
police force at Caldwell. Neal had
been cooking at a camp of tho K. C.
Cottle Co. about tea miles from

As this is a dull season of the ycav
thinking perhaps a few notes from
this section would bo appreciated
by your readers I. will give a low
dots :
Our stockmen are out. on their
spring round-up.
Tho farmers arc busily employed
in preparing ground for corn and
others tire planting.
The weather has been quite cool
the past week but it is now pleasant
and tho grass is growing nicely.
The Chickasaw Stock Association
held their annual meeting at this
place on the 3 1 si ult. They elected
new officers for this year. Martfn
Colbert was clcctod president and
Emmet McCoy secretary and treas-
urer. Quite a sensational afl'air occurred
in our community last week an
old-time bachelor being called upon
to fulfill a rash promise made to a
young lady. Jt was a sad sight in-
deed to see his old bachelor asso-
ciates mourn over the loss of one of
their brothers. Tho young Indies 'of
this section have taken a. decided
stand against our bachelors slowly
but surely ensnair them in tho
meshes of malriinony. Tho last
victim of this inlluence was Mr.
Martin Colbert who was married to
Miss Zora Bony. Reports say our
.young friend Arch Cloodc will bo the
next victim. Beuuy.
THE ATLANTIC & PACIFIC.
From Din Indian Journal.
For some time past indications
have pointed toward an early build-
ing of the bridge at Tulsa and ex-
tension for a few miles at least of
the Atlantic & Pacific railroad. L
IS. Thomes the chief engineer has
just been in St. Louis consulting
with the officers of the road and the
determination was arrived at to buile
a temporary bridge 1300 feet long at
once to he ready by the 1 J5th of M ay
when the first train of cattle will pass
over. The track will be laid six
miles beyond the bridge and stock
yards will be built. The oflicers of -tho
road hope to cut off much of the
cattle business now going to Kansas
points and estimate that they will
