The county commissioners are in sen-
sion this week wrestling with the jail
problem. All sorts of plaua hare been
proposed for the building of a jail but
none sottlrd on yet. The latest plan
discussed is to authorize some private
party to build the jail with the under-
standing that the commliaionira are to
lease it for the use of the county.
A Bluff City girl advertised for a

But That Won't Stop the Building of
The Beaver
BUILDINGS GOING UP AS FAST AS CAR-
PENTERS CAN DO THE WORK.
Some peoplo who happen to lire at
Tyrone and who have not even a
speaking acquaintance with truth
are industriously circulating the re-
port that the cotton gin will not be
built at Beaver and that tho Tyrone
people have taken over all contracts
and material for the Heaver gin and
that tho only place in the county
where a gin will be built will bo at
Tyrone.
Now we do not know how many cot-
ton gins will be built in the county-
there may be a dozen for all we know.
Hut there is one fact that wo know to
be a fact and that Is tho Beaver cot-
ton gin is now being built. The ma-
terial for the buildings is mostly on
the ground and is being put in place
as fast as workmen can do it.
The main building will be completed
by September 1st.
The machinery and engine are at
Liberal and will be hauled here as
soon as teams can bo had to go after
it and will be put in place as soon as
Later. Since tho above was put in
type we learn that the storm was the
worst that ever visited that section of
country. Rain and hail fell in torrants
totally destroying crops and fruit and
killing hogs and poultry. The storm
was narrow but extended from a short
distance above Ed Ilibba'a for eight
miles or more down the valley.
Mr. and Mrs. S. B Weir old timers

Mrs. Weir will meet many of their old

G. W. Robinson with the Keffs
throe miles south of town has con-
tracts now for the building of four
cement blook dwolliog houses in this
vicinity and half a duzen or more
farmers are waiting to got contracts.
We understand that Mr. Robinson is
ths owner of the cement block ma
chine. In speaking of these pcodIo
last week we stated that they were
from Woods county Oklahoma which
was an error. They came here from
Barber oounty Kansas.
The rams go in streak these daya.
A big rain at Baaver last Saturday only
extended two or tbree miles on each
aide. At night it rained half the night
four miles south of town and no raia
fall io town. Over oa the North Flats
it has been taining for the past three
weeks and the groand b to toft that
farmera cannot get into their fields to
cut feed. Down at Allen's 4 miles
east there wat a big rain last Sat-
urday and tne whole bottom w flood
ed. And this is the way it has gone
right along aud while there has not
been a general rain all parts of tho
county have had abundance of rainfall.
Destructive Hail Storm.
A very destructive hail storm a wept
over a tpaee of country about one-
half mile wide and three miles lone
on Clear Creek about twelve miles
south of Weaver last Monday even
ing. The hail was of immense tise
and the storm came almost without
warning. Sixty-three head of hogs
belonging to Ed Hibbs were beaten to
death by the ha;l and five doien
chickens belonging to Mrs. Weeden
a near nufgubor suffered the same
fat. Much damage waa done to fruit
apd vegetable but so far aa we have
learned no person was hurt. A yet
