The Beaver county tax case test-
ing tho legality of the raise made ly
the territorial board of equalization
for the year i807 wu recently heard
by tho supreme wr o.' Oklahoma
Territory and t!-i c0i;uion of tho
district judgtf of Dca.it county in
sustaining demurrer to petition w.is
reversed and tbo cae remandid.
This is the cisc in which Attorneys
Ballingcr and Ulauclwrd originally
filed an injunction to prevent collec-
tion of the 1 807 taxes represented by
the territorial raise. The injunction
was sustained by the probate court
and tho caso subsequently brought
into the district court whereupon tbo
district judge sustained tho county
attorney's demurror to tho petition
against thn raise.
It is a cae that has been long
peudirg. It Is a case that hns been
of interest to Beaver county tax-
payers many of whom felt that tho
raise was illegal and hcucc will be in-
terested in tho supremo court's de-
cision. Woodward County Cuttle Tax cases

Woodward Nov. 8. At tho recent
term of court Hon. Bayard T. Hitincr
one of tho chief justlccH of Oklahoma

1897 Woodward county assessed
againtt J. A. Murphy $804 but after
tho tuxes were assessed nnd before
collection Murphy moved tho cattle
to Kansas and sold them to Ilavens-
crnft who afterwards returned them
to Woodward county whero thoy
were seized for Murphy's taxes. The
