has honored graduate
Brandie Combs with
its 2021 Distinguished
Alumni Award.
Combs, a resident of
Jackson County Okla-
homa, has more than 25
years of public health
experience.
She currently serves
as the District 5 Regional
Administrative Director
for the Oklahoma State
Department of Health
(OSDH) that includes
nine county health de-
partments throughout
southwest Oklahoma.

Office of Alumni Affairs
awar ded the 2021 Distin-
guished Alumni Award
Buchanan said, he has
enjoyed every position he
held was great. He rarely
disliked anything. In ev-
ery role, he learns more

serve in the chief position,

The annual popular
Altus Chamber of Com-
m rce returns this year,
promising an evening of
entertainment and some
changes to the program.
The event will be held
Saturday, Nov. 6 at the
Jackson County Expo.
Cocktail hour is from
5:30 to 6:30 p.m., when din-
ner will be served.
A live auction and mu
sical entertainment will
follow dinner.
Everyone in the com-
munity is invited to par-
ticipate in the event: it
will not be for Chamber of
Commerce members ex-
clusively.
“Primarily, we want this
to be fun, and be a must-at-
tend event," said Emily
Smith, president of the
Chamber of Commerce’s
Board of Directors.

characteristics he shows

should strive for in the
fire service.
When Buchanan was
a child, he lived in Altus,
Oklahoma, not too far
from one of the fire sta
