Texoma college students who ar-
rived home last weekend for the sum-
mer vacation include Larry Field
Monte Ferrell Arno Lindorfer and
Peggie Jo Fitzgerald all students at
Oklahoma State University Still-
water Lyndel Daniel returned to his home
in Hooker following his graduation
at Oklahoma State University Sun-
day Doylene Schafer also a graduate
with the OSII class of 1959 remain-
ed in Oklahoma City where she is
employed with the Gates Rubber
Company 1Za Schafer took her de-
gree in office management
Home from Bethany Christian Col-
lege is Tommy Allen Jones who ar-
rived in Texhoma Sunday

The Texhoma Homemakers met
Monday May 25 at the home of Mr&
Jack Gilley
The meeting was called to order
by the President Mr& Allen Duffy
A song was led by Jan Gilley The
devotional was given by Mrs George
Fritz In answer to roll call the mem-
bers expressed opinions to the quest-
ion "Why Have a Hobby"
The art of pillow making was the
lesson led by Mrs Emmet Oldaker
She demonstrated oome of the con-
struction and showed different t5-Pcs
to be used Several beautiful pillows
were exhibited Discussion followed
on the value of Arts and Crafts in
the home
The business session began with
a parliamentary quiz led by Mrs
Charley Roach Mrs George Fritz
led the safety quiz and also reported
on the success of the car salet7 check
A report was siven by Mrs Emmet
()Maker on the park fund She said
the fund was still short of the a-
mount needed to operate the park
suocessfulle
It was stated during the meeting
that from now on the club would
meet promptly at 2:00 pm for each
meeting during the year All members
are urged to remember this time
The meeting mu adjourned to meet
next month with Mrs W D Wells
Lesson leader will be Mrs Jack Oil-
ley The lesaon will be on bane man-
agement Lovely refreshments were served

Some 53 Texhoma automobiles
were checked in the Safety Lane
sponsored by the Texhoma Home-
makers and the Busy Matrons Home
Damonstration clubs on Friday May
22 at Texhoma City Hall
Highway Trooftv Bill Hensler
made the checks and in the 53 cars
checked he found five with defec-
tive lights one with a defective hand
brake and one with a defective wind-
shield wiper
The Busy Matrons served cookies
and coffee to persons coming in for
the car check during the morning
hours and the Texhoma Homemakers
took over hostess duties during the
afternoon session
The clubs spokesmen stated that
they were elated at the response
and at the evident care given auto-
mobiles by local resident& A semi-
annual check is planned in coopera-
tion with the State Departreent of
Public Safety
Talent Show - Slave
Auction June 4
The youth groupe of the James
Church of God assisted by their
sponsors will present a talent show
at the church on the evening of
Thursday June 4
Included in the talent show will
be short plays and other special feat-
ures Following the program the group
iu hold a slave auction each of the
Young people giving eight hours of
labor to the highest bidder
The miitiey is to be wed to lin-
prove the Church park and for other
projects of espeelal interest to the
'youth
The public is invited to attend this
Talent Show and the Slave Auction
that will follow

23rd where she was a student for
the past two years according to word
from her grandfather Ira D Divine

Miss Mitchell valedictorian of the
class of 300 students eamei the
highest grades in the 50-year his-
tory of CIOV13 highschooL
Her mother the former Louise
'Devine is an alumna of nethoma
class of 1930
Miss Mitchell received a number
of awards for excellent work includ-
ing two awards in Latin one in
Mathematics and a tuition scholar-
ship to New Mexico College of Agri-
culture and Mechankal Arts at Las
Cnice
She received a 525 bond from the
Clovis Womens' Club a gift of 9225
toward her college education from
the Clovis Masonic Lodge and a gift
of $75 from the New Mexico Masonic
organization
