Self-Help Is More
Relevant Today Than
E ver B efore
In my April 28 1983 edition
of THE OKLAHOMA DISPATCH I concluded
'my editorial with the statement:
"My message to the unemployed is
to encourage most of them to form
their own companies and proprietor-
ships" Many of you have skills and
abilities which you can market inde-
pendently Free-Enterprize is a bless-
ing and always an opportunity in
America I plead with citizens of
Northeast Oklahoma City first than
to all Oklahomans and to the Nation
at large to start now developing
a family business We believe the
Northeast Oklahoma City area is in
desperate need for more family-owned
businesses We have a severe shortage
of free-enterprize thinking and acting
people in our community We have
too much unused and undeveloped talent
in our community Even if you are
already employed with someone else
you can still maintain your own busi-
ness Northeast Oklahoma City should
be over-flowing with restaurants
clothing boutiques cultural movie
theaters bookstores and private
schools and academies Notheast Okla-
homa Cityans must become producers
of products and our grocers must
gradually stop buying produce from
suppliers who overcharge them thus
preventing them from effectively
competing for the consumer dollar
We can produce numerous products
ourselves We can build our own indus-
tries THE TIME IS NOW! We must rise
22 and build our community and city
Again we urge every family
especially in Northeast Oklahoma
City to organize and build a family
business in your community Let people
know about your business-ADVERTISE
It is time to produce THINK "SUP-

Don't by a car with worn suspension
not only because it will be very
expensive to correct but it is a
good sign that the rest of the car
hasn't been maintained
As to accessories in a used
car the air conditioner is the most
expensive to repair You can get
it tested at an air-conditioning

The Oklahama Dispatch is a "Pay Print
Media" newspaper which simply means that
80 of the news announcements or Ads pub-
lished are paid for by the sender or a spon-
sor The concept of "Pay Print Media" is
similar to the economic concept of "Pay TV"
or "Cable Television" By doing this we
are able to produce an equitable publication
that can provide a wider circulation contain-
ing news and information that the majority
of the people will want to read including
you Traditional news media publish informa-
tion as a public service but the problem
is that 75 of your press releases that are
sent to these medias are dumped in file 13
if it does not meet the special interest
of the editorial staff
We will publish all non-libelous news
announcements or information in your newspa-
per "The Oklahoma Dispatch" for only 100
per word We also publish display ads for
$300 per column inch We are able to elimi-
nate unnecessary censorship therefore ful-
filling the true meaning of the FREE PRESS
and to provide the consumer a more economical
vehicle for advertising and wide distribution
of public relation information
Are you tired of reading about bad news
Well send us some good news to print about
you or your organization it's only 100 per
word and we'll send you a tear sheet of
your article after publishing it Our busi-
ness is to print the news that you want to
reaJ about and not so much about what I
think you need to know Items for publication
should be payed for in advance Send to The
