It is wonderful the number of
Republican papers that have
lately become “independent”
Senator Baily was re-elected
to the Senate by the Texas legis-
ture by a small majority The
senator seemS to have borrowed
money to good advantage
Envy and jealousy are both
dispisable in their mildest form
and when grown to the point
when neither ran be concealed
appears conteyiptible not only
to their object but to onlookers
as well - i ' ' ' V

With the sale qfbe segregated
coal lands broad fields of corn
and cotton will take the place of
the timber and pasture lands and
with the removal of restrictions
substantial farm houses will be
built in the rural districts and
Haskell county will be one of the
best in the new state'
Stigler should bive some place
for a temporary court house with
rooms adjacent for the county
officers- nTher© is hardly a
buildingin Stigler at present ade-
quate for that purpose and it is
to be hoped that some ' one will
build one before it is needed
The ground floor of another 50
by 100 brick building could be
readily rented’ adl the second
floor could be used for a court
house and have' sufficent room
for the offices of the diffierent
county officials

he is in the race He and Col
Hoffman of Chandler are a com-
mittee appointed by the Okla-
9oma Good Roads association to
draft a bill providing for a state
road system which will doubtless
be adopted by the convention
They desire to make the estab-

Would Print the Truth
Says a wise exchange “At the
present writing we have no desire
to hurl ourselves into Abraham's
bosom but if we should decide to
do so we wouldn't lean up against
a doublebarrel shot-gun and then
tread on the trigger as many do
i
Neither would we eat a square
meal of rough on rats blow out
the gas drink concentrated lye
sit down on the lap of a buzz saw
smoke a cigarette or call a Ken-
tuckian a liar and a poor judge of
whiskey We would simply get
out an edition of our paper in
which we would strive to the very
best of our ability to print the
plain squaretoed truth about peo-
ple as we understand it and then
calmly await the end”

Carber-Howe Concert
A crowded house greeted the
Garber-Howe Concert Co at
Stocker Hall Monday evening
and those present enjoyed a
splendid concert The crowded
house sbowes very forcibly that
Stigler' needs a larger opera
house and that the town would
support some good 'entertain-
ments if the proper accommoda-
tions could be secured

Oh for one roinp in Faraway land
By the streams of Boyhoodville r
When sunshine flooded the care-free
world
And life was one constant thrill-
Oh for a plunge in the Swimmin’
hole L
And the gang’s wild yell “Chaw
beef!”
Oh just crack two rocks when they’d
dive — ' '
In order to make them “deef”
Oh just to turn one’s coat collar up
And play the part of a tough
And between your teeth a grape-
' leaf “cig’’—
Which you’d puff and puff and puff
Those were Uie days that were sure
enough
The days that are wont to waft
Dreamily back from the long ago
To these days of Graft! Graft!
Graft!
