They repair any broken equipment,
perform routine maintenance and may
even make the tools to perform the
repairs. The high school seniors are
familiar with each machine at Ciabriel.
“We're the perfect husbands in
training.” one joked when talking
about what they're learning. Trouble-
shooting why a piece of equipment
isn't working and then finding a
solution, even if it im oh es making a
new part. is a valuable skill. Miller
said.
"When we started planning we
thought they'd just stand around and
watch." Miracle said But that's not
even close to what's happened.
"They are truly an asset to our
company," Miracle said. "They carry
their own weight and do their own
projects. They're not dead weight."
Both Gabriel and the students are
excited about their possibilities.
“Our opportunities are far bey ond
any other high school seniors in the
state," Miller said. He thinks w ith the
marketable skills they are gaining, the
possibilities are endless.
"We're headed to the sky - that's
our limit," Miller said.
But Miracle hopes the pair w ill stay
at Gabriel.
“These two are fixing to graduate in
May and were fighting over who’s
going to get them." he said.
Balancing school and work at
Gabriel makes for some long hours.
Holcraft starts his day with school
at El Reno High School at S a m.
followed by a class at Redlands
Community College before he heads
to the Canadian Valley campus then
work at Gabriel until midnight. But he
says he doesn't mind the long hours.
“That's how I w ish it to be," he said.
Holcraft planned to attend college
on a wrestling scholarship, but a
broken ankle last year ended that six-
year dream. He thought briefly that
academics might take him into higher
education.
“Then I realized academics w asn't
going to cut it," he said.
When he heard about the industrial
maintenance program it appealed to

Resources Education Program
(AREP). Through AREP, volunteer
instructors are trained to coordinate
and instruct beginners at fishing
clinics throughout the state. These
clinics teach kids knot tying, fish
cleaning, fish identification, casting,
tackle selection, outdoor ethics, and
even how to prepare their catch. At
C'unningham had no prior felony
com ietions, He pled guilty to
emberelement and received a two
year deferred sentenee, with
supervision from the Department ol
Corrections the first year.
On Nov. 3. 1907. Cunningham
was charged with misdemeanor
counts of headlighting a deer and
transporting a loaded firearm. Both
charges were in direct violation
with the terms of the deferred
sentence. He pled guilty to the
charges.
