DICK T. MORGAN
In this issue of the Star ap-
pears the announcement of Dick
T. Morgan for Congress from
this, the 8th Congressional Dis-
trict. Practically all in this sec-
tion of the country are acquaint-
ed with Mr. Morgan, and during
his several years of splendid
service in the House of Repre-
sentatives have learned to love
him as a man always awake to
his duty, and woi king for the
best int -rests of his constituents.
Mr. Morgan's record in Con-
gress is an open book, upon
which he is asking the Repulicar
voters for their support in the
Primary.
B. G. BINGHAM
Another announcementappear-
ing in this issue of the Star is
that of B. G. Bingham, of Logan,
who is asking the Progressive
voters of the county for the nom-
for Representative from Beaver
and Harper Counties. Mr. Bing-
ham has lived for several years
in this county and is one of her
most substantial farmers. He is
thoroughly Progressive in prin-
cipal and believes iu the State
and National Platforms adopted
by that party, and if nominated
and elected will use his influeuce
in directing legislation along Pro-
gressive principals.
C. C. DEGRAW
We wish also to call the atten-
tion^ our readers to the an-
nouncement of C. C. DeGraw, of
Beaver, who is asking the Re-
publican voters for the nomina-
tion for Court Clerk of Beaver
Count)'. We have known Mr. De
Graw for the past three or four
vears, and have found his char-
acter and reputation to be of the
highest type, and his qualifica-
tions to be beyond question. At
present he lives on his farm just
north ot Beaver City, and is em-
ployed as Clerk of the County
Court, in which position he i*
making good. He has Progress-
ive ideas and if nominated and
elected is sure to make the coun-
ty an efficient and capableoffiecr.
PROGRESSIVE
CONVENTION
Beaver, Oklahoma, April 25,1914
Pursuant to a call made by
B. G. Bingham, a few members
of the Progressive party met for
the purpose of forming a tempo-
rary organization. Meeting was
called to order by B. G. Bingham
Dr. L. L. Long then acted as
chairman and C. C. DeGraw as
secretary, and th< following par-
ties were selected as temporary
officers of the organization, until
their successors are elected and
qualified: W. L. Beardsley, of
ForgaD, Chairman County Con-
tral Committee; E. 1. Haworth,
of Gate, Secretary; Dr. L. L.
Long, of Beaver, State Commit-
teeman; and H. A. Brewer, Balko
Congressional Committeeman
Another meeting was set for
June 3rd subject to the approval
of the county chairman.
Among those present from
over the county were. H. N.
Lawson, H. M. Bulick, Geo. H.
Wright, C. C. DeGraw, Dr. L.L.
Long and C. F. Tvvy ford, of Bea-
ver; B. G. Bingham and S. C.
Boileau, of Logan; A. A. Haskell
and H. C. Gray, of Elmwood;
11. A. Brewer, of Balko and E. I.
Haworth, of Gate.
Former members of both the
old parties were present and
great enthusiasm was shown.
Reports from over the county
give bright prospects for the fu-
ture of the new party in Beaver
County.
Thursday, May 7th, 1914 has
been appointed as a day for
cleaning up the cemetery, pre-
paratory for Decoration day.
Everybody turn out and help the
good work along.

EDUCATIONALT FAIR
In the the Educatioual Fair
held last wetk at Beaver the
Gate City School got otf with
the following prizes: First Prize
in Girls Base Ball Throw, and
Second Prize in 50 yard dash,
both won by Jessie Brown.
Paul Starn tied for Second place
in Pole Vaulting. Rebecca Card
won Third place in the Declam-
atory Contest.
At one o'oclock on Friday cne
hundred boys and girls wearing
L. T. L. hats and carrying pen-
nants, marched from the court-
house to the band stand, where
Johnnie Jones, sheriff, gave a
temperance talk,-after which he
poured some liquor on the
ground in the presence of all
spectators.

er subject to the action of the
Democratic voters in the primary

The Gate Gospel Team went
to the Berends School House
last Sunday and had a good
meeting, which resulted in three
conversions.
Mr. Eddleman, of Woodward,
Gen. Agt. of the National Okla-

The protracted meeting is
still in progress, and the Engle-
wood Gospel Team are expected
to be here Friday night and the
Mooreland Team Saturday
