HISTORY REPEATING.
It is claimed by a ccrtain school c.f
philosophers that everything pertain-
ing to this mundane sphere moves in
cycles: that the events of today are
but a repetition of the happenings of
jesterday, or some former time.
l-ast Satuday's democratic conven-
tion certainly furnishes additional
proof of this doctrine. From 1892
to 1894 this county had a court house
gang. Just such a one as now has con-
trol of the fiscal affairs of the people
The gang of 1894 was the product of
the democratic party; just as the
gang of 1904 is the product of that
organization. The gang of 1894
squandered $210,000 of the people's
money in two years; the present gang
have squandered $480' in the same
length of time. The democratic party
in convention assembled in 1894 en-
dorsed the extravagance, the rascali-
ty and public thievery of the treasury
looters of that period, the democratic
party in convention assembled last Sat-
urday endorsed the extravagance an.l
rascality of the present gang The
treasury looters in control of the party
in 1894 <1*-r.< « inced the El Ren^ Demo-
crat and its editor for exposing them
to the people, just as they are doing
