the Newspapers during the last five days
ot llie State Fair makes it much more in-
teresting- and inviting.
Every one interested is looking forward with a great deal of interest
and pleasure to the announcement of the full program which wdl be
made soon. Our County must not be behind other of our progressive
counties and we must have our very best young lady selected to uphold
and represent out interest.
Nominations are coming in now and we are able this week to publish
the names of some of our most popular girls who have been suggested
by their friends and admirers as suitable for this honor. This is a trip
which will appeal to the pride of any young lady. It is one that cannot
be bought with money or account of the high standing of the
connected with the state's aff^iis. It is very desirable to

lady that would like an introduction into the most exclusive society of

lo the young ladies who have been nominated, we will say that if you
desire to take the trip you can aid your friends who are at work for you
in many ways; write friends in difierfnt paris of the. state, get some
young lady friend to go with ) oil to your friends in the community and
get them all lo work'for you.
We will send you supplies so you can take subscriptions or put them in
to the hands of a working friend to do so for you. Sample copies of
both papers will be sent you to use in the campaign. Get a good list
sent in for next week we will publish our first list of votes and of course
you will want to make a good start.
If you have not been nominated, have some friend send your name a
once so we can send you the complete supplies to enable you to be well
represented in the first vote published.

The picnic held at the city park
Thursday celebrating the ninth an-
niversary of Capitol Hill was a
grand success. Mayor Mike Don.
nally made the opening address
which was appreciated by all.
The principal speaker was W. T-
Gilmore of Ardmore, as an inter-
tainer Mr. Gilmore proved himself
equal to the occasion. Other speak-
ers were Atty. E. E. Reardon and
Atty. Frank Smith.
At noon four Barbacued beeves
were served. In the afternoon the
principal amusement was a ball
game between the Wheatland and
Capitol Hill team. Music was fur-
nished by the Edmond Band and at
least three thousand people attend-
ed the picnic during the day.
The Oklahoma Gas & Electric
Co., furnished the lights gratis and
the park was well lighted.

The President was instructed to

It was decided to take such ac-
tion as was necessary without delay
to secure a depot on the Santa-l-
Railroad. The meeting adjourned
to meet next Tuesday night August
24th in the Baird- Dubois Building.
Mr. J. N. Ware has leased one of
the store rooms in the Baird.Dubois
block and will install an up to-date
barber shop with hot and cold
baths.

To be Entertained at the State Fair
The Baird-Dubois block, corner
C, Ave. and Robinson St., will be
completed about Sept. 1st., which
will add much to the aprearance of
Capitol Hill.
The contract for wiring and pipe-
ing the building was e to the Cap.
itol Hill Gas & Eelctiical Co., in
which they will consume about a
car-load of material, eiivolving
several hundred dollars.

class workmanship both inside and

One of the quickest ways to make

Mr. and Mrs. Larkin Mead, re-
turned to the Hill Tuesday from a
six weeks visit at Plattsburg and
other points in "ilie land of the big
red apple.'' They report an enjoy-
able time, and say the crops are
fine and fruit is plentiful in old Mis

Nothing will be spared to make the entertainment a grand success,
and a visit of delight for each of the fortunate contestants.
